Goodbye March Menage Month...

Today is the final day of the 2010 March Menage Month reading challenge! My thanks to everyone who joined me this month in reading romance books that featured at least one menage a trois scene in them. I fell short of my goal by a few books, but hope to read those in the near future (last year I read nearly 20 books for March Menage Month, this year I only completed 8 *hangs head*).

While this was my 2nd year of "March Menage Month", it was the first time several of you joined me in reading books with a menage a trois scene in them, I hope we can do this again next year. It was much more fun with others joining me and sharing their books with me. My thanks again to all of you who joined in!!

My favorite March Menage Month book read was hands down "Soul Mates: Bound by Blood" by Jourdan Lane. I can't say enough great things about this sexy paranormal M/M romance with a little menage a trois tossed in the mix. If you like paranormal and a great, really, really great m/m romance this book is a MUST READ. I can't wait to read more of this series!

My complete March Reading book list:

1) "Colters' Woman" by Maya Banks (Re-Read) - 5 stars
2) "Tri-Omega Mates" by Stormy Glenn - 0 stars
3) "Polar Reaction" by Claire Thompson - 5 stars
4) "Wolf Tales" by Kate Douglas - 4 stars
5) "Brazen" by Maya Banks - 4 stars
6) "Alpha's Mate" by Leah Brooke - 2 stars
7) "Soul Mates: Bound by Blood" by Jourdan Lane - 5 stars**
8) "Stranded" by Eve Vaughn - 3 stars
9) "Teens Take it to Court" by Judge T. Jacobs -YA (review on The Cracked Spine)

**"Soul Mates: Bound by Blood" by Jourdan Lane - favorite M/M romance so far this year.**

Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam

We all have that one show (ok, maybe some of us have one dozen *shhh!*), that has that one character... you know that guy who as soon as he comes on screen your toes curl, your heart jumps a beat and you hold your breath for a moment waiting to hear him speak.
You know what I'm talking about - THAT guy! Well, one of THOSE guys for me in Charlie Hunnam (currently AKA "Jax" on Sons of Anarchy).

(photo collage created from GOOGLE Images)

He's played assorted roles all completely different from each other. He's been Nicholas Nickleby in the classic of that name by Charles Dickens, he's played a gay twink on "Queer as Folk" and as I said above, he's currently "Jax" a badass, gun toting biker hunk.

I love his diversity and that whatever role he is playing, I believe him to be THAT character. When I watch him in Nicholas Nickleby I forget completely about his role as tough gun shooting Jax on a bike flying down the highway like a bat out of hell. Yet when I watch Sons of Anarchy I completely forget scenes of Charlie Hunnam being a bottom during a steamy graphic hot gay sex scene. He is such a good believable actor that he captures my attention and mind to whatever role he is currently playing. Few actors do that for me...my mind often wanders to their other work and I find myself comparing their works. Not with Charlie Hunnam.

I've only seen bits and pieces (mostly Charlie's very naked bits and pieces *sigh*) of "Queer as Folk", but I am a faithful follower of "Sons of Anarchy" and continue to rent Nicholas Nickleby when I need another Charlie Hunnam fix. While I have enjoyed all the roles I've seen him in, I have to say my favorite is his role as Jackson "Jax" on 'Sons of Anarchy' and that surprised me the first time I watched the show. I can't talk about Charlie Hunnam without giving a shout out to this show.

I don't usually care to tune in weekly for a show with such graphic violence. I'd like to say that it was purely Charlie Hunnam's role that captured me, but it wasn't. Charlie Hunnam sucked me into watching the first episode. He did capture my attention completely and wipe out all the other roles I had seen him in, but he wasn't the only factor drawing me in and bringing me back week after week.

The entire cast is seductive and enchanting -ya I know, weird word to use for a biker gang...er club... television show but it's true! The writing is phenomenal, with twists and turns I never see coming. I've heard some people call the show 'gritty'...that's far too mild and doesn't capture the essence of the show. When I think of 'grit' I think of coarse sand...Sons of Anarchy is not sand, it's gravel- sharp rocks that gouge the skin. Grit you could ignore and put out of your mind, that won't happen watching Sons of Anarchy. You're still thinking about it weeks after the season final has ended. Replaying in your mind the episodes of the trials and triumphs the characters have endured that season.

Just when I think the violence is too much...a tender moment finds its way on the screen. Jackson with his infant son, or Gemma buttoning her husband's shirt for him because his hands refuse to do his will more often than not these days. The violence is balanced by the sense of family and brotherhood...the invisible link that bonds these people together.

I can't wait for the next season to start...I hope there are far more episodes than last season...it's just not enough!
Here are a few clips of interviews from a younger Charlie Hunnam and his role on Queer as Folk as a gay man and acting out graphic gay sex scenes.

Am I the only one who keeps replaying that interview?? *grins* Check out this next one...

And one more with co-star Katey (she's terrific too)!!

Way to go Charlie! You're a great actor with amazing talent and a bright future in front of you.

Monday's Mish Mash Post

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend (mine was not). Ever have one of those weekends were you end up busier than you were all week long? That was my weekend and I am actually looking forward to the week because I have LESS to do this week then I did last weekend. I abhor busy weekends.
Weekends to me are for relaxing, reading, watching a movie, sleeping in (if the kids let me) and generally being as lazy as possible for two days. None of that happened this weekend, it was run to this, then to that, make sure this was done, now off to another event etc. Blah! My weekend gone! Ruined! *grumble, grumble*

Only a few more days left of March Menage Month!! I've still got three menage a trois books in my TBR pile, but it looks like I won't be reading all three in time to finish out the month. Thanks again to everyone for joining me and sharing your books, reviews and thoughts on what you're read this month. I've truly enjoyed reading your comments.

Have you seen the new National Geographic book "Vampire Forensics"?? It's the newest book to make my MUST HAVE list.

Title: Vampire Forensics
Author: Mark Collins Jenkins
Published: Feb. 2010

Synopsis: "Mark Jenkins’s engrossing history draws on the latest science, anthropological and archaeological research to explore the origins of vampire stories, providing gripping historic and folkloric context for the concept of immortal beings who defy death by feeding on the lifeblood of others. From the earliest whispers of eternal evil in ancient Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome, vampire tales flourished through the centuries and around the globe, fueled by superstition, sexual mystery, fear of disease and death, and the nagging anxiety that demons lurk everywhere.
In Vampire Forensics, Mark Jenkins probes vampire legend to tease out the historical truths enshrined in the tales of terror: sherds of Persian pottery depicting blood-sucking demons; the amazing recent discovery by National Geographic archaeologist Matteo Borrini of a 16th-century Venetian grave of a plague victim and suspected vampire; and the Transylvanian castle of "Vlad the Impaler," whose bloodthirsty cruelty remains unsurpassed.
Jenkins navigates centuries of lore and legend, adding new chapters to the chronicle and weaving an irresistibly seductive blend of superstition, psychology, and science sure to engross everyone from Anne Rice’s countless readers to serious students of archaeology and mythology
."

Here's the video for the book...

So that's the newest MUST BUY book I want, now I want to mention my newest MUST SEE movie. I've mentioned before on this blog how much of a sucker I am for the whole "Beauty and the Beast" theme. Well I found a movie trailer that looks like it is going to satisfy my love for this romance theme.
Check out "Beastly"...

I can't wait for all the great movies coming out this summer!! "Eclipse", "Beastly" and the next installment of the Harry Potter books to movies!!

So what books and movies are you looking forward to the most?

"Stranded" by Eve Vaughn

Title: Stranded
Author: Eve Vaughn
Published: 2008
Genre: Erotic Romance (Menage a Trois)
Pages: 223

Synopsis: "One island, One woman, Two studs. India Powers is at the end of her rope. After dumping her cheating fiance` and having a falling out with her parents, she decides to take a much needed vacation. In route she meets two hunky fellow vacationers in the form of Rafe Santiago and Grant Thompson. Though shes not looking for love, India sees no harm in a little island flirtation. Rafe and Grant have been friends since they were kids; both from broken homes, all they had were each other. Their closeness leads them to the discovery they enjoy sharing the same women. After surviving a stormy marriage that nearly destroys their friendship, Rafe vows to never let another woman come between them. To celebrate Rafe's divorce, he and Grant take a vacation in hopes of finding Miss Right along the way. Tragedy strikes when their plane goes down. In a twist of fate, the only survivors are India, Grant and Rafe. Stranded for weeks, their daily fight for survival turns into something much deeper when India falls for both men and they for her. However, when they're rescued and returned to civilization, they fall under public scrutiny. Can their new found love survive when outside forces step in to tear them apart?"
Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, menage trois.

Over all I enjoyed this fast read steamy erotic menage a trois book, but it did have some short comings for me. India is a beautiful black woman who comes from a well to do family that has never shown her any love or even simple compassion. Basically they are completely hateful to her yet she continues to try to please them and earn their affection. I get that some families are like this, but for most of the book this plot element did not work for me because I didn't believe it. Perhaps the failing is mine on this because I just could not wrap my mind around the dialogue and exchanges between the family members.

After India kicks her up and coming hot shot fiance` to the curb, her aunt talks her into taking a vacation to get away from it all and regroup. India doesn't really need to get over her fiance`, its more of a trip to regain her strength to continue battling her horrid family. You see her family doesn't care that her soon to be husband was banging someone else, all that matters is that India has failed to get the guy with the money who was going places. High society is what India's family have their eyes focused on and India could have been their ticket to the top.

While traveling to a resort island, India meets two best friends Rafe (hot smoldering quick tempered Latino hunk) and Grant (blond haired, blue eyed perfection). Rafe and Grant have been extremely close best friends since their rotten childhoods brought them together. Over the years, they have found that they enjoy sharing one woman and want to find THE woman to be theirs for the rest of their lives. They made a huge mistakes years earlier with the wrong woman, who is still haunting them, and now they are determined to find the right woman for them.

The plane they are all on goes down in the ocean killing all but the three of them. They are stranded on a small island with nothing to help them survive. Finding anything to eat is nearly impossible for the trio but they manage to survive for over two months on coconuts, snails, a few crabs and rarely a fish or two. While finding food might be hard to do, finding love and passion on the small island was not. The men are very attracted to India from the beginning, but India isn't ready for any sort of relationship. She's got too much going on in her life to even think about a relationship. And after her initial shock of being drawn to two men at once, she agrees to a purely sexual relationship with the men. The men want more, but they are willing to take what they can get for now. India hadn't had sex in a long time, so she figures sex alone with two sexy men would be wonderful and would not risk bringing any emotions into it (she's emotionally frazzled from her family and break up). That was her plan, but her heart falls for the two very different sexy men. They are quite a striking trio, a beautiful mocha color skinned black woman, a hot sexy Latino and a blond, blue eyed muscled stud.

After they are rescued their real problems start. India with her family, her ex-fiance` and her lost job. And the men with their business and Rafe's ex-wife is back to cause more trouble. Plus the trio have to deal with all the media and their fifteen minutes of fame when their survival story gets picked up by people like Larry King. India questions their future but won't and can't deny she's in love with both men. They guys just want India to come live with them, they miss her and are intent on getting her back with them, but first they must deal with the mess waiting for all them after they are rescued.

3/5 stars for a GOOD read.

Road Tripping...look what I found!

With spring weather here it means more road trips, but with a crap economy it means instead of hopping in the car for a weekend trip up to Canada or heading south to visit friends in Florida, I am road tripping based on my wallet. That translates to day trips around my state and me being back home by supper time!

That's not as depressing as it may at first sound. There are some interesting places in our own backyards that perhaps we seldom stop to check out. Ever drive by some place every day to work and think "One day I am going to stop by and check that place out" yet you never seem to get around to doing that? I do that all the time. Me and my intentions don't alway result in actual results!

One place in particular I have driven by for years and yet never stopped at - mostly because it looked a bit scary. That would be Wild Bill's Nostalgia Center in a town called Middletown, CT.

This place looks like hippy heaven from the outside. It even has a sign for hippies to use the side door (if you click on the photos they will enlarge).

As you can see from the photos, it's not a place you can drive by and never notice, it certainly grabs your attention. I've always been curious, but never been inside, then one day last week I stopped to take some photos. I was pressed for time and could not go in but plan to visit there the next time I am in that town. For years I thought (like the article link above mentions) that Wild Bill's was a place to purchase assorted drug paraphernalia like water bongs and rolling papers!
But I was wrong. It's apparently like a huge bizarre flea market of typical, weird and amazing things and not so typical items - with not bongs or rolling papers sold (*hears hippies sobbing*).

Anyone remember those 1980's shows "Ripley's Believe it or Not" and "That's Incredible"? I get the feeling some of the things that might be found in Wild Bill's Nostalgia Center might also have made a debut on one of those shows.

So while I haven't gotten inside the place yet, I did take some photos of the building. What do you think? How many things can you identify in the pictures? Bring back any memories or thoughts? I know some, most maybe but some still have me stumped. Can anyone tell me the significance of the black dog/wolf over the cubed glass window in the last photo? Would that be like "Bark at the Moon" by Ozzy or something?? Any ideas?

In Supernatural news: Sam marries demon Ruby

Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester on Supernatural) married co-star Genevieve Cortese (Supernatural's demon "Ruby") on February 27, after a one month engagement.

For more on that story click HERE.

Source for the photos is FanPop.
Cortese is actually the second actress to play demon Ruby on Supernatural, the first was the new 'Melrose Place' blond actress Katie Cassidy.

I actually really like her as Ruby and was put off at first by Cortese.

As a demon they can jump from body to body and possess any person they'd like. This explains the blond blue eyed Ruby turning into the brunette with dark brown eyes from one season to the next. In the end, Sam and Dean (who never liked Ruby) did what they must as demon hunters, thus ending Sam's demon blood sucking and f**king days with Ruby.

Here are some wedding photos of the happy couple and of course Sammy's Supernatural brother Dean Winchester played by Jensen Ackles...

These two heated up the screen when Sam began not only drinking Ruby's demon blood, but also having a hot sorted (could it be anything else with a demon lover?) lusty affair. How could any Supernatural fan forget this steamy sex scene??

Oh and one more thing...

Friday Night Lights: I can't wait!

I know people with Direct TV have already seen season 4 of Friday Night Lights but I haven't (no spoilers please!) and so the end of April can't get here soon enough for me! Season 3 had quite the cliffhanger ending, and I really can't wait to see how season 4 pans out with the town divided and Coach Eric having to start from the ground up.

Better later than never...right?

Hey there everyone!!

I know I've been a bad, bad book blogger. Truth is I haven't read anything since last week and for multiple reasons. First, the weather! It was so beautiful and sunny and warm that it drew me outside every free chance I had- which of course meant putting down my books.

Then real life got busy and my only free time was in the evening at which time I watched "New Moon" both Saturday (twice) and Sunday night.

Then last night it was all about 'Dancing With the Stars'- what can I say?? I just had to see this seasons first night of dancers. I don't usually follow any season faithfully, but I do like to watch the first show and see how everyone starts out. OK, and I had to see Jake from The Bachelor as he is one of the dancers this season. I was floored to see Jake had not only Vienna whom he proposed to at the end of his season on The Bachelor but ALSO GIA the girl he was kissing and dating along side Vienna! Made me think...hmmm... are Jake, Vienna and Gia all in on my March Menage Month too??!!! *grins*

It's too soon to pick my favorites, but I thought everyone did fairly well considering it was the first time out and they all seemed very nervous.

So here it is on Tuesday evening and I still have not yet picked up a book to read for this week! *hangs head in shame*

I have been trying to read everyone's blog thru Google Reader but I simply haven't had time to comment, so please forgive my neglect.

So instead of a book review I am going to post some tunes from Youtube! Today's Tuesday Tunes are a trip back to the 1970's (bell bottoms, feathered hair and lots of satin clothes!) and one of my very first teen idol crushes...Shawn Cassidy or as I knew him for years Joe Hardy of the Hardy Boys! *grin*

Friday Post...

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

I wish I could say I've got a review for today, but the truth is I haven't read anything in a few days. The warm weather came with lots of sunshine and I have been been spending all my free time outside enjoying it!
I don't know if I will be blogging this weekend or not, but I hopefully I will have a review ready for Monday. I do know I am getting the "New Moon" DVD and the kids and I will be watching that at least a few times.

Speaking of 'New Moon' - this Youtube New Moon Parody makes me laugh...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

"Soul Mates: Bound by Blood" by Jourdan Lane

Title: Soul Mates: Bound by Blood (Bk#1)
Series: Soul Mates
Author: Jourdan Lane
Copyright: 2005
Genre: M/M Paranormal Romance
Pages: 354

Synopsis: "Houston nightclub Rave is famous for nearly-naked male dancers and beautiful bartenders. It's a club for hedonists and playboys. Like Peter, a young man with a strict rule about one-night stands. He breaks that rule for Lucien, the owner of The Den, a rival gay nightclub where there are no boundaries, no taboos. Anything goes at The Den, including vampires. When Peter finds out about Lucien's vampire nature, he figures he should have stuck to his rule. He's not a vampire fan, after all, and Lucien pulls him into a dark world of vampires, werewolves and feuding in-laws. Peter resists Lucien as long as he can, but when he gives in, he does it in a big way. Peter and Lucien begin a very dangerous dance of sensual heat and deep emotion, one that causes them nothing but trouble. No one approves of the human and vampire match, including the Council, old enemies and even older friends. Peter and Lucien have to struggle to stay together and protect those they love. Can they beat the forces that will try to tear them apart forever? And can they face what will become of Peter if they stay together?"

One word: MAGNIFICENT!

Hands down my VERY favorite gay romance ever. I could NOT put this book down and I have fallen completely in love with Peter and Lucien. Author Jourdan Lane (new to me author) has woven a phenomenal love story between a human and a vampire and she didn't make it easy. These two had all sorts of obstacles in their way including themselves! But their desire to be together could not be stifled or ignored. The book is SUPERBLY written, I can't say enough good things about the story and I know my review will not do justice to the book. It captured my attention and then the characters captured my heart.

Peter is a bartender in a sexy gay bar. He's good looking and used to getting hit on by the customers but he has a strict rule about no one night stands so he keeps all his customers at arms length. Then one night a sexy erotic man catches his eye on the dance floor and Peter decides to take his break to join the sexy man on the dance floor. They dance and the chemistry and sparks are flying between them without either of them speaking a word. Peter is extremely turned on and very interested in getting to know this sexy man. But as quickly as the music ends Peter's sexy dancing partner disappears much to Peters bewilderment and frustration.

When Peter meets his sexy dance partner again it's not as he had hoped. He finds out Lucien isn't human, he's a vampire and Peter can't stand vampires. Not too long ago, Peter went to the vampire bar The Den with some friends and witnessed a brutal scene that made him sick. Since then he has hated vampires. To find out the man of his dreams is a vampire is a huge disappointment and Peter is angry about it. What happens next totally rocks Peter's world. He has a sort of dream about Lucien biting him and sucking his blood, but the dream is all too real. Peter has the actual bite marks to prove it, only it never physically happened.

Lucien confronts an angry Peter and together they have no idea how Peter seemed to have been bitten by Lucien when Lucien had never been to Peter's apartment and because he's a vampire he can not enter any one's home without first being invited. As much as Peter hates vampires, his desire for Lucien grows. Peter is struggling with an internal war of emotions, desires, fears, dreams and his biased from what he witnessed in his past. Lucien wants to try for a relationship with Peter but doesn't know how to get Peter over his fear or revulsion for vampires.

It is Lucien who first captured my heart. Lucien understands that he sometimes IS the monster that humans see vampires as. But Lucien also has a huge heart that he wants desperately to share with Peter. Lucien doesn't want just sex, he's had that his whole life. He wants a real loving relationship - something he has never, ever had in his centuries of existing. Peter is the object of Lucien's love and affection and each time Peter pushes Lucien away in fear it deeply wounds the vampire.

This is an erotic, steamy paranormal book, but it's mostly a phenomenal love story about two gay men, one human and one vampire who fall completely and hopelessly in love with each other against all odds. The story is told from Peter's point of view, giving me a bit of the Sookie Stackhouse feeling as Peter enters the world of the supernatural for the first time. I liked that. But the world of the vampires in Lucien's coven, these hot men battling rogue vampires and werewolves also gave me a bit of the Blackdagger Brotherhood series feel.

**some spoilers**

The sex parts...off the chart. Highly erotic. During one sex scene at the moment of orgasm one of the men gets his nipples pierced. During a menage a trois scene one man takes two penises in his ass at once. There's lots of cum tasting, pierced man bits, masturbation, blow-jobs and then even more hot erotic sex among numerous characters. The sex is off the charts, but done to perfection for the story. Vampires and werewolves are highly sexual and sensual beings and when a human is with them, they too get caught up in the waves of sensuality.

5 stars - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for gay romance fans!

I can't wait to read the rest of this series! I didn't want the book to end, I enjoyed it that much.

Around the Web: Books & Curvy Women vs Skinny Women

Today I have a few items of news on books and things related to books from around the web recently.
(photos from Google Images)

First up, an interesting article about book covers that do not portray the heroine's body size as it's depicted in the book. Cover art has thin woman on it, book is about larger plus sized women. The article is "Bodies, Book covers and Novels About Large Women".

I haven't read any of the novels depicted in this article, but it did bring to mind one of my favorite historical romances "Suddenly You" by Lisa Kleypas about a 'chubby' heroine, yet the cover doesn't show a larger sized heroine on it. This is apparently another fear from publishers that sales will be down if a large woman is on the cover of a book.

I find the whole skinny heroine vs full figured curvy heroine interesting because in recent news and polls, men overwhelming said they prefered women with CURVES. One article said 74% of men prefer curvy women over thin or willowy women. A few weeks ago, singer Jessica Simpson began promoting her new clothing line for curvy women. She was recently on Oprah saying she's proud of her curves. Now, I don't see Jessica Simpson as even close to 'full figured', but she's no willow weed on a runway either and I think that's the point. She's got curves and she likes them! Curves look good in my opinion and apparently men think so too!

A few days ago, I was watching some news network on television, I think it was CNN Headline news (but I could be wrong). Anyway, the brief report was that Curves Are Back, thanks to shows like AMC's "Mad Men" where woman are curvy and well rounded and totally catching the eyes of men tired of skinny women.

But it doesn't end with shows like Mad Men, there is research that men like their women with some meat on their bones!

Researcher: Curvy women like a drug to men's brains
By Alexis Stevens
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution -8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Men like curvaceous woman. No news there, right?
But there's a little more to it, according to a Gwinnett County professor. Women with curvy hips and smaller waists are to men as beer is to an alcoholic, according to Steven Platek of Georgia Gwinnett College.
"The Caucasian, westernized female has somehow been duped into thinking men like very skinny, waify, Kate Moss-type girls," Platek told the AJC on Tuesday.
But it's not true, according to Platek's research, published in an online science journal. Curvy women really do affect men's brains, Platek said. The amount of body fat may not even matter.
In particular, having a high hip-to-waist size ratio really gets men going, he says. Those wider hips are generally indicative of better overall physical health, and the ability to carry healthy babies.
Again, no news there -- or is there?
Platek says his research will be useful in further understanding disorders such as sexual addictions.
"This research really explains things like sexual harassment and whistling at the hot girl in the street," he said.
Devendra Singh, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin, assisted with the research, Platek said. Singh has done previous research on the hip-to-waist ratio.
For the study, 14 men with the average age of 25 looked at "before" and "after" pictures of nude women who had plastic surgery to get more shapely behinds. Platek says it wasn't hard to find men to help with the study.
The women having surgery did not reduce their weight, but just had it redistributed, Platek said. All of the woman agreed to be photographed.
"They had to make some of the women fatter," Platek said.
While the men in the study looked at the pictures of the women, their brain patterns were scanned, he said. Seeing the post-operative photos of the women resulted in increased activity in the part of the brain associated with rewards
, Platek said.
Platek, who will discuss his findings at a March conference in New York, said he knows the study won't come as a shock to some people. Instead, it reaffirms what many already know.
"Curviness is a trump card," Platek said. "It’s worth it’s weight in reproductive gold."

***
Author Roxanne St. Claire posted an interesting article about possible double standards in romance books. The double standard being that we (romance readers) might cut the sexy hero more slack than we do the heroine in any given situation in the book. My first reaction was "no, I don't cut the hero more slack". I think both the hero and heroines annoy me equally when they do something I personally don't want them to do! (can't they hear me saying "NO! Nooooo!") *wink*
But then I stewed it over some more and reflected to my real life and came to the opposite conclusion. I do admit, that I am one of THOSE women, who often isn't surprised when a guy royally screws up because (sorry to say) I sort of expect it. I don't think it's so much that I think LESS of males as I think MORE of women (could be, but I hope not). I see woman as amazing strong, resilient and the glue that often keeps families together while some men are off having a mid-life crisis. Perhaps I am biased based on my own experiences and seeing what friends have gone through.

Don't get me wrong, I love and adore men. I've just seen them let down their women and families so many times... I've gotten to the place where it doesn't surprise me any more. Yet what I see when those occasions crop up, is the woman finding her strength and holding up not only herself, but her children, family and often career.
So when I read a hero do something asinine in a romance book I mentally shrug as if I expected it. But it's true that when a heroine truly 'fails' in my eyes I am probably more disappointed in her than I am in him because I personally seem to hold women to a higher standard based on the amazing women I've known in my real life. Am I the only one to do this? That's not to say I haven't known some great amazing men, I have and do know some, but the amazing women about double the amazing men in my life experience. Anyway, the article was very thought provoking and opened by eyes to the fact that I DO have a double standard for heroes and heroines when I read.

Lars, Damien, Wes and Seth Tougarret are half brothers, Alphas, kept apart as children. Their father's death before they were born divided the pack. Because of their grandmother, they've learned to get along. Barely. Stunned to learn they share a mate, they must form a bond. Especially when they learn someone wants her dead. **A Siren Erotic Romance

Lacey sweeps into town to visit her godmother Nana, but also to go underground for a while. This is something she doesn't tell anyone. She royally pissed someone off at home...someone with influence and long reaching arms and he's not going to let her go without a confrontation to get what he wants. Lacey figures she can visit her godmother and 'disappear' off the radar for a while.

Nana has 4 grandsons, Lars, Damien, Seth and Wes who are werewolves with no mate. These grandsons are all half brothers because their father did not find his true mate, instead he had sex with four different women and procreated four alpha son males. Because of that, the werewolf pack has been divided into four parts and is no longer unified. The half brothers do not get along at all, but for their grandmother's sake they attempt to.

When the brothers are visiting their grandmother and get one whiff of Lacey they go wild. Lacey is their mate. The mate to all four of them. Suddenly there is a lot of growling going on and the guys want to rip each other's throats out because they each want to claim Lacey as their own. Lacey has no idea what is going on because she doesn't know a thing about werewolves being real. Nana saves the day but digging out an old book with the history of werewolves in it that shows occasionally alphas have been known to share an alpha female and when it occurs everyone is happy and the pack thrives.

The guys must work together, trust each other and win over Lacey as a foursome to gain her trust and get her to go along with this bizarre situation. It's not easy, there is jealousy, fights but also lots of lust and uber-steamy sex going on. But Lacey has all sorts of issues with this unexpected turn of events. First she has to get over the shock of discovering werewolves are real. Then she has to get over the shock of mating four men. Then she still has that stalker/threatening problem from back home. And the men are so dominate that she is treated like a child and constantly told what to do - and she hates that. So do I.

The relationship is very difficult to work out and plays out with lots of up and down moments. There's a murder to solve and Lacey's past to confront and the brothers need to reunited the pack into one strong pack again. Lacey as their shared mate is the key to that.

I've got mixed feelings on this erotic romance. There is good and bad in the book - at least for me. The good is the story potential, steamy sex and all the obstacles placed in the way that they must all over come to make this work. The 'bad' in the book hits several of my "Huge Pet Peeve" buttons and I really hated that.

The bad is the dialog. Once again, stupid dialog nearly makes me toss the book. There's a scene in the book where a woman has just been murdered - her throat ripped out during Nana's party and everyone is supposed to be shook up and upset. When an agent comes to investigate, instead of being in shock and upset Lacey stupidly gets into an argument with the investigator because he said "Who are you?" without properly introducing himself first! Lacey is SUPPOSED to be shook up about the womans murder, yet she's in teacher mode and correcting the murder investigators for not properly introducing himself as if they were meeting for tea and scones instead of trying to figure out who butchered an innocent woman! Utterly ridiculous! That's not the only stupid moment or dialog in this book. For me, that's HUGE pet peeve #1, I hate stupid dialog that makes the characters look like asses and unfortunately the characters looked like asses several times in this book.

Another bad for me in this book is the heroine being treated like she's a child instead of a full grown woman. HUGE pet peeve #2 and nearly a total deal breaker for me reading this book. When Lacey (who has only been in town less than 3 days), decides to go talk to a man she thinks can help her out of her situation back home the four alphas go nuts on her. Lacey still doesn't really understand all that is going on and the guys keep screaming "You're our mate, you MUST do as we tell you to do or we will punish you!". I hate that crap, it belittles ALL the characters in the story.

Then there was the added annoyance of typos. Sometimes Lacey called Nana her godmother, other times she called her her grandmother which of course would make Lacey and the alphas siblings and totally incestuous!

The final bad for me in this book is HUGE pet peeve #3: stupid 'punishment' scenes. When Lacey doesn't pour out her entire life to the alphas and they find out from the agent investigating the murder, the alphas snap (insisting that by not telling her entire history to them in 2 days that she is "lying"). They drag Lacey to her room to punish her with anal sex. Here's a excerpt from the book when Lars explains to Lacey how werewolf alphas punish their mates earlier in the book.

He wanted her to understand just what would be in store for her if she kept lying to them.
"First you would be stripped. Then you would be turned over one of our laps and be given a spanking assuring that you won't sit comfortably for quite a while."
He ignored her gasp and continued. "Then you would be taken from behind. Your ass. The ultimate submission. The ultimate domination. Your ass would be fucked long and hard until you see the error of your ways. You would not be allowed to come until you plead for mercy and apologize profusely for daring to endanger our mate." (Alphas' Mate - Leah Brooke - page 159-160)

I think that whole thing is ridiculous and belittling to all the characters in the story. And because of the all the pet peeve buttons pushed in this book, I can't say I enjoyed it at all. It had all the potential, the basic plot was good, the twists and turns and everyone having to learn to deal with the unexpected situation, but the pet peeves were just too much for me and destroyed the book. I really wanted to like this one because I could see the potential, but in the long run I just couldn't get passed all those personal pet peeves of mine. Yet someone rated this book 5 stars on Barnes and Noble, so clearly others didn't have the same issues I did with the book.

Eclipse movie trailer

I can't wait to see this movie. Eclipse was my favorite book in the Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. I really hope the movie does justice to the book.

Looks good, but I'd rather see some scenes of the new vampires and the Cullen family.

"Brazen" by Maya Banks

Title: Brazen
Author: Maya Banks
Published: 2008
Genre: Erotic (menage a trois)
Pages: 260

Synopsis: "One woman's campaign to win the hearts of the two men she loves. Jasmine left the Sweetwater Ranch and the Morgan brothers, no longer able to bear the painful dilemma of loving them both. After a year away, in which she gains new perspective, she returns home with one goal. To make Seth and Zane Morgan hers. Jaz may have left an innocent girl, but shes returned a beautiful, sensual woman. Seth and Zane aren't prepared for the full on assault she launches and each battle an attraction they've fought for years. She wants them both, but Seth has no intention of sharing his woman. It's up to her to change his mind because she cant and wont choose between two men she loves with equal passion. For her, its all or nothing."

Maya Banks once again delivers a great erotic romance with sexy men and a fun likable heroine. Jasmine is determined to win the hearts of both the men she loves. The problem is that they see her as still the young girl they rescued several years ago. Jasmine must make them see her as the full grown woman she has become.

Years ago Jasmine witnessed Seth and Zane having sex with the same woman. Since that night, she has dreamed of being the one woman for the both men. She knows the guys have no trouble sharing a woman, but she isn't sure they would accept her as that one woman to be shared because with her it would mean feelings and emotions were involved. With the other woman it was just sex and mutual lust. Jasmine wants it all, the love, the lust and both men sharing her and only her.

After a year away in Paris, Jasmine is ready to make her move and go after the men she loves. Zane has always been the one she goes to first. He's more easy going and has covered for Jasmine on a number of times to keep her out of trouble with Seth, the eldest and most dominate of the brothers. So Jasmine sets her sights on first winning over Zane, then going after Seth.

She definitely has both men's attentions as soon as she steps off the plane. They see her as a gorgeous sexy woman and that sends the men into a tailspin as they don't know how to control their lust. Jasmine continues her assault with skimpy bikinis, sexy belly button rings and reasons to cuddle with the men. She drives them to distraction until finally Zane can't help but kiss and touch her. But still he won't make love to her. She decides she needs to change her game plan and go after Seth.

She and Seth both get more than they bargained for and it drives a wedge between the three of them that no one is sure how to fix. Jasmine begins to self doubt what she's done when the brothers are fighting over her and the brothers begin to rethink their objections to being with Jasmine.

This book is HOT and sexy with great characters and a good plot that moves along well. There is sexual tension and steamy love scenes, along with fun dialog.

"Wolf Tales" by Kate Douglas

Title: Wolf Tales
Author: Kate Douglas
Series: Wolf Tale Series Book #1
Published: 2006
Genre: Erotic Menage/Gay Erotica
Pages: 257

Synopsis: "When Alexandria’s car goes off the road in a terrible blizzard, she has no idea night will bring a powerful rescuer and the start of an ecstatic sexual awakening. The moment Xandi wakes in Stefan’s muscular arms, feels the heat of his body pressing against hers, she feels no fear. Instead, she allows herself to be taken by one who is more than a man, whose primal nature is never far from him. As their connection grows, and as Xandi gradually loses her sensual inhibitions, experiencing pleasures she never dreamed possible, she is drawn deeper into Stefan’s mysterious world, meeting the alluring beauty, Keisha, as well as the dominant and sometimes ruthlessly commanding Anton, who can have any man or woman he wants…in any way he wishes…"

I had to think about just HOW to review this book for more than a day and I am still not sure I am going to get it right. What I do know is that I can't review it without giving away some details, so if you don't want to know any spoilers you should skip this review. BUT...for those who love hot erotica but some things make you squeamish...you might want to read this review before you buy this book. If nothing makes you squeamish and you want HOT panties-on-fire erotica...click the title link to Amazon.com and order your copy now.

The first few chapters of the book totally drew me in and I had in my head the vision of "Beauty and the Beast". The heroine (or one of the heroines- I'll get to that later) is Alexandria 'Xandi' and she's gone off the road in a snow storm to be rescued by 'the beast'. The beast is Stefan a man cursed by a magician to be half man and half wolf. He has the form of man, but pointy wolfish ears and a sort of muzzle "lupine nose" and canine teeth. He is also a magician and for the 5 years he's been curse as a wolfman he's been trying to reverse the curse to become the man he once was. OK, that sounded like a great story plot to me since I was a total sucker for the whole "Beauty and the Beast" story.

Now, the "lupine nose" was a bit off putting, but I just kept thinking "Beauty and the Beast" so it worked for me. But the first really squeamish part came when Stefan's man parts were more wolfish parts and they were having sex. *shudder* Now, the whole penis knotting thing isn't new to me - Lora Leigh's "Breed" series introduced me to that peculiar man bit story element. But the wolfish LOOK to Stefan's penis was my first squeamish moment in the book. I really had to take a deep breath and ask myself if I wanted to go any further! LOL But being the curious and perverted type I am...I read on all the time thinking that Beauty would help the Beast return to man form soon and it would be a hot erotic love story. I was half right.

Stefan has secrets and secret desires. One of those desires is a hot fantasy of having sex with the magician (Anton) who made him into a wolfman. He was angry with Anton and hadn't spoken to him in years, but there was no denying how much he wanted to have sex with the man. The problem was, Stefan is straight and men don't turn him on at all. But Anton...Anton draws him and inflames him with lust that Stefan knows he will not be able to resist if he sees Anton again.

Stefan has to see Anton to get the curse removed so he and Xandi can be together as man and woman. Xandi loves her beast just the way he is but can see it's important to Stefan to be the man he once was - not to mention that eventually Stefan would like to be able to go out in public, he's been hiding away at a cabin in the woods for 5 long years not wanting anyone to see him like this. What Stefan doesn't tell Xandi is that he KNOWS that going to Anton is going to end up with him having sex with the man and Stefan is worried how Xandi will take it.

What happens next is squeamish moment #2 & #3.

Stefan enters Anton's house and confronts Anton with arrogance. The confrontation doesn't go well, one moment Anton is a human the next he's in wolfen form and humping Stefan. Now... the scene plays out like a rape between two men...er make that a wolfman and a wolf (scenes of National Geographic wolf mating habits flashed in my head), but all the time Stefan is fighting Anton he's actually very turned on and loving getting raped in his ass by Anton. It's what he's wanted for five long years. He's dreamed of this moment and he's thrilled to submit to Anton banging him violently. The problem for Stefan doesn't seem to be the rape, its that Xandi is witnessing the whole thing. Xandi at first is horrified, but after she sees Stefan enjoying it (moaning, huge erection and finally shooting his load all over the floor), she gets all turned on. I honestly didn't know what to think or feel for this scene because as it's explained Stefan has wanted this for years and knew coming to Anton's home was going to end up with him submitting to Anton in this way. He totally got off on it and so did Xandi who ends up wishing she could join the men. The whole wolfen form was just ...disturbing and a huge squeamish moment for me.

But right after that things get cleared up and I was back into liking the story - I'm fickle that way. Stefan and Anton are NOT human at all. They are part of a separate race of beings that LOOK human and can change into wolf form. They are called Chanku. The Chanku are VERY sensual and sexual beings who mate with males and females as often as they can in either their human like forms or their wolfen forms - it doesn't matter to them so long as they are having sex with each other in one form or the other.

So now my whole "Beauty and the Beast" vision/theory is out the window being replaced with a sort of Farscape/Star Wars erotica visual. While the Chanku are not aliens, it's the only thing that popped into my mind after reading the explanation given for this separate species of beings. As bizarre as this may sound, now the story made more sense to me. Stefan couldn't help his desire to submit to Anton any more than Anton could help his driving need to have sex with Stefan... they had both been celibate for at least 5 years and the Chanku in them was driving them to that moment. It was out of their control and fated to happen whether either of them wanted it that way or not.

What they soon discover is that Xandi is also Chanku which explains why she was drawn to the men and turned on. The Chanku in her was drawing her to love and have sex with these men. Stefan finds out there was no 'curse' on him...it was just he was stuck between shifting from human looking to wolf looking. Once he had sex with Anton, Anton helped him shift fulling into both forms and all was right with the world for Stefan. Soon Xandi was shifting too and they all had a great sex together.

The story continues with Anton's driven desire to locate all the other Chanku out in the world and join this race together again. When they read a story in the paper about a wolf or pack of wild dogs killing 3 rapists yet leaving the rape victim unharmed Anton has a feeling the woman is Chanku. He's right. Keisha has no idea what she is, but she thinks she's losing her mind. She was brutally raped by 3 men, then the next thing she remembers is dreaming she's a wolf and ripping out their throats and killing them. She seeks therapy but nothing is helping her. Then one day, Anton, Xandi and Stefan show up and tell her about the Chanku. It takes time but Keisha finally comes around to believing them. What takes much longer is her getting over the brutality of the rape.

The story clearly sets its self up for many more books in the series as these four Chanku go in search of others of their kind. While the squeamish moments almost made me put the book down, the explanation made it work for me in the long run. But this book may not work for everyone. Over all, I liked the world of the Chanku that Kate Douglas (new to me author) created and I will probably read more in this series in the future.

"Polar Reaction" by Claire Thompson

Title: Polar Reaction
Author: Claire Thompson
Published: 2010
Genre: Gay Romance (m/m/m)
Pages: 227

Synopsis: "The savage Antarctic winter is closing in, and three research scientists are scheduled for the last flight out—until an unexpected blizzard traps all three of them in the compound. There’s Tuck, who only joined the project to be close to sexy-but-straight Brendan, the man of his dreams. And Jamie, who has always admired the other two from afar. Thrown into a dangerous situation, the three of them turn to each other for survival, solace…and more. As Brendan overcomes his confusion over his impulses, the trio begin a sexual exploration that explodes into passion and unbridled lust.
Yet once the rescue helicopter airlifts them to safety, Brendan comes to his senses, returning home to his carefully constructed, closeted life. But there’s a Brendan-shaped hole left behind in Tuck’s and Jamie’s hearts. There’s only one way to fill it—by breaking through Brendan’s reserve to reclaim the man they both love
."

In two words: LOVED IT!

This was a great story of three very different men falling in love and lust with each other in a difficult life threatening situation. Jamie is an out gay man who makes no excuses for his desire and love of men. He's the youngest of the group, but the most sexually experienced. Tuck is a bi-sexual man who has had a crush on a male co-worker for a year- his co-worker Brendan who happens to be straight.

The men are trapped in the Antarctic during a terrible storm and while waiting for the weather to improve so they can be rescued things begin to happen sexually between them. The fantasy and dreams they've harbored come to life when Tuck watches Brendan jerking off in the shower, and later when Tuck gives Jamie a back rub and both of them end up with huge erections.

The guys pass the time knocking back some drinks and playing cards and before they know it they are sucking each others cocks. Brendan is the most disturbed by this, but there is no denying his desire to participate in the action. He's just horrified that men are turning him on. His body is at constant war with his head. Tuck and Jamie try to calm Brendan and ease him into some male on male love, but once Brendan's desire is satisfied by the men his head starts taking over and he backs off what happened between them.

As soon as they are rescued Brendan withdraws and pushes both Jamie and Tuck away to retreat back to his old life. He tries hooking back up with his ex-girlfriend but it's the images of sex with Jamie and Tuck that are turning him on. Brendan is miserable and confused.

Jamie and Tuck continue their relationship back in California but both are missing Brendan and can't seem to forget about the other guy. They are falling in love and enjoying their new relationship but always feel a void because Brendan is not with them. When they try calling Brendan he gives them the brush off and clearly doesn't want to revive the relationship that started in the Antarctic. They are hurt and angry but know they can't force Brendan into something he's not ready for.

This story was very well told. The men were are very different and the characters well developed. The struggles the men had were believable and touching. Jamie often felt like the third wheel on the outside because Tuck had fallen in love with Brendan a year before. And Tuck felt stuck in the middle with his feelings for both men. Brendan...Brendan was a mass of confusion trying to come to terms with his own sexuality.

Wonderful, hot, sexy gay romance story. And this was romance, not just graphic steamy sex (though it was panties-on-fire reading!. These men fell in love and each struggled individually with his personal demons and together as a group as they worked to find a way to be together.

5 stars - shelf keeper material!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND for gay romance book fans

Tri-Omega Mates (Volume 1) by Stormy Glenn

Title: Tri-Omega Mates (Volume 1)
Author: Stormy Glenn
Published: 2009
Genre: m/m/m gay menage a trois
2 books in 1

Secret Desires
Synposis: SECRET DESIRES [Siren Menage Amour 17: Paranormal Menage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, Werewolves] How do you answer a handsome cowboy when he asks if you want to take a ride on his horse, especially when he guarantees that it will be a wild ride? For Leyland the answer is simple: Hell, yes! But what if his cowboy already has a lover?

Forbidden Desires
Synopsis: FORBIDDEN DESIRES [Siren Menage Amour 26: Paranormal Menage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, Werewolves] Gregory had been waiting for over six years for Ryland to grow up so that he can claim him. When he finally does claim him, Gregory learns that by doing so, he has endangered Ryland's life. Ryland is a Tri-Omega and needs two mates to keep him grounded and safe. And he hasn't found his other mate yet.

I really, really, REALLY don't like to give a bad review, but I have to give an honest review. To sum up this book in one word... RIDICULOUS.

The dialogue and relationship between the men and the treatment of the men to each other was just too ridiculous to believe. Absurd.

Leyland is a grown man. A gay man who has had a few relationships but hasn't met his mate yet. He's also a very successful photographer who knows that once he meets his mate or mates... he will finally be able to shift into wolf form. This part was all fine and typical of many paranormal erotic stories.

When Leyland's car breaks down while he is on his way to a photo shoot, he is rescued by a handsome dominate hunk Jake. They hit it off right away and Jake knows he's finally found the mate he's been looking for. The problem is, while he was waiting to find his mate, he's been very intimate sexually and emotionally with Lucas and it's breaking his heart to sever that relationship when Leyland comes along. But no worries, Leyland is a TRI-Omega, that is a threesome mate in wolf terms. Jake and Lucas are confused at first, they both feel dominate with Leyland and want him for themselves, so they soon find the joys in a Tri-Omega.

Now here comes the ridiculous part. Leyland's parents come to visit and meet Leylands new mates. When they knock on the door Jake and Lucas start snarling and growling ready to rip out Leyland's parents throat. Apparently Jake and Lucas are so stupid that they see Leyland's parents (one mother and 2 fathers) as a threat to their threesome that they think killing Leyland's parents might be a good idea. *eye roll here*

When Leyland stands between his mates and his parents to protect them and calm everyone down, the pack goes nuts. Leyland has just disobeyed his mates and stepped out of bounds for an omega and the alpha (Jake) and the Beta ( Lucas) are FURIOUS with Leyland for trying to protect his family from the nashing teeth of the wolf pack. *more eye rolling here*

Things calm down a bit, but Jake and Lucas are FURIOUS with Leyland so they have to punish him. They ground him and send him to his room. A grown man!!! Is that not beyond stupid?! Leyland goes to his room all ticked off, then Jake and Lucas tell him he can't watch television, read a book OR even look outside! They board up the window!!!!!! Then Jake and Lucas hit the town for some time alone together at a hotel while Leyland is being punished for trying to protect his parents from death.

While they are gone, Leyland falls ill - terribly ill, at death's door ill. Why is Leyland ill? Because he hasn't gotten fucked in the last several hours and he MUST be fucked by his mates regularly or he will die. I just could NOT stand how grown men were portrayed in these stories, they were treated like 5 year olds who stole too many cookies from the cookie jar!

OK...it's just RIDICULOUS. The second book is no better than the first. I am floored that this book has a 5 star rating on Barnes and Noble.

ZERO stars for this one.

A total disappointment.

The Joy of Flashing others

Oh get your mind out of the gutter!! Not that kind of flashing (not that I haven't ever flashed or mooned anyone...lets not go there).
What I am talking about is flash mob dancing!!! You gotta love it, especially when it's for a good cause.

Flash mob cause: Haiti earthquake victims

Flash mob cause: Feeding the hungry

Flash mob cause: Operation Smile (helping kids with facial deformities)-Watch Ryan Seacrest and his mother get surprised and try to figure out what the hell is happening around them while they eat lunch - cute!

T-Mobile's message to the world: Life Is For Sharing!!

Flash mob cause: Save the Arts Campaign

Flash mob Cause: Healthy pregnancies and safe births in poor countries

Flash mob cause: Sex Therapy (yep, you read that one right!)

Flash mob dancing because it's FUN and it's Summer time in Australia!!

And one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE flash mobs...

Flash mob dancing gives me that warm giddy feeling that life and the world at large isn't nearly as bad or doomed as the news media often paints it. I live in hopes of one day being somewhere at the right time to experience a flash mob dance myself. It's on my bucket list of wishes before I die.

There are a few problems, howeverconvincing her she belongs with them and keeping her safe from the man who wants her dead."

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, mnage a quatre, violence.

**Re-read**

I tried to think up a new review for this book, but no matter what I thought of, I kept going back to my original review from last winter. So I am going to repost it but tweak it a bit.

This is going to be an x-rated review because the book is so explicit there really isn't any other way for me to tell it.

The story is about three brothers Adam, Ethan and Ryan Colter. They come from a very unconventional family, one mother and three fathers and they have decided they are going to following in their parents footsteps and find one woman to be theirs. One cold snowy winter day, Adam walks down their Rockies ranch driveway to get the mail and finds a woman nearly frozen in the snow. He scoops up her nearly dead frozen body, gets an instant raging hard-on and runs home with her so his brothers can see if she's "the one" for them or not. Adam seems to have some inner instinct going on with his instant hard-on and believes this woman is who the brothers have long been waiting for.

Ethan and Ryan respond instantly to her (more raging hard-ons) and they too claim she's "the one" while the woman is still half frozen and unconscious- talk about men using their dicks for brains!

After putting her in a tub of hot water to help warm her up, Adam deposits her in bed (after she blacks out), swaddles her in blankets to help her warm up then proceeds to plunge his hand between her legs to fondle her to her first orgasm. Now there's a way to beat hypothermia! Wonder why hospitals never do this? (My guess is women everywhere would be throwing themselves naked in snow drifts).

Needless to say she's more than a little startled to wake up getting an orgasm from a stranger. Then she finds two more aroused males waiting for her in the living room. Within the next few hours (they let her sleep for about a hour- weren't they sports?!) she finds her self kissing these men and being fondled and extremely turned on by them. When the men tell her they want to share her as their wife -they tell her she 'belongs' to them, she's confused but can't deny how turned on they make her (umm...ya a tongue thrust in your mouth and a man's hand in your pants will do that to a woman).

But there's a problem, Holly is already married. This sends the horny brothers into fits of anguish and agony as they have already been dreaming of all the sex they were going to have with her- not to mention where Adam's hands have been and what they were doing to another man's wife!

Holly ran off on her wedding night after she witnessed her husband commit a crime and ended up in the snowy ditch on the Colter's ranch where Adam found her. She wants a divorce and the three horny brothers are determined to get it for her so they can keep her as their own. It takes less than 24 hours for the foursome to begin. (Apparently being fondled to orgasm brings a faster recovery from hypothermia than other methods-hospitals really should look into this proven method).

Now Holly is some sort of super woman in my opinion. The woman was a virgin when the brothers found her and yet she takes to ALL (and I do mean ALL) the brothers sexually demand of her without a bit of protest or hesitation the very first time she ever has sex. She put any whorehouse madam to shame with how quickly she knew exactly what to do and how best the men liked it. She was like a street walking pro or a Hoover vacuum and boy oh boy did those brothers appreciate her efforts - heck it even said they were proud of her after the first time taking them all on! And I went back and counted, the orgasm tally for the foursome on Hoover Holly's first time was 10! They had 10 orgasms between them, not bad for a virgin eh? *grins*

There is no birth control used for anything in this book, and some might be repulsed by the brothers taking turns on her not caring how many times they have all already ejaculated into her, they just keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny. To say it was 'messy' is to put it lightly, but they all loved it- hey, whatever floats your boat right? The brothers were so stimulated by watching each other taking Holly that as soon as they came, they got turned on again and got right back into the action. When one of them would cum and pull out another brother would take his place and start banging her until he came, then the next brother would take his place. This went on and on. Hence virgin Hoover Holly being a super sex hero woman in my opinion- sort of like the female version of Superman The Sex Kitten. Let's face it, any normal woman wouldn't be able to walk for a week!

Every day they enjoyed each other, usually as a foursome but the brothers would also go off with Holly alone and have sex. While all this smokin' hot whoopie is going on, Holly is still terrified her husband will find her and harm the brothers but she likes where she is and she wants to be the 'wife' to all these brothers. So Adam gets in touch with a lawyer and they file the papers to get her divorce and then they all go back to making whoopie foursome style. Oh things are good on the brother's ranch! :o)

The soon to be ex-husband doesn't take well to Holly taking off and he wants her back (after all, he never even got to consummate the marriage). The brothers say they will kill him before giving up Holly. Holly blackmails her husband with what she knows and he leaves, then sends out a hitman on her. Superhero Sex Kitten Hoover Holly survives the attacks and goes on to become the wife of three brothers and has many more foursomes for years to come- no pun intended.

Ok...shock aside (and I was shocked- this was the most graphic erotic novel I have ever read in my life), the story was good! I liked the brothers (especially ex-military man Ryan- my favorite wounded hero type) and I did like Holly- certainly admired the woman's stamina! I liked that there was more to the story than just sex, though there was a lot of hot sex going on. The violent undercurrent with the husband was a plus to the story in my opinion (made it more like the contemporary suspense romances that I like). How quickly things happened was what was difficult for me- I found a bit of humor in that actually. The foursome/brothers relationship was also hard to swallow- could brothers really ever want one woman for a wife?- but it was a fun erotic, menage a quatre HOT romance! My only disappoint was that I was REALLY hoping the brother's parents would be in the story. Aside from a phone call with them letting them know about Holly, they weren't in it and I would have liked to have the Mother and Holly have a talk about how it all works and hear her story. I think that would have added a lot to the dynamic of the family unit if the parents had come to meet Holly. Aside from that, I liked it as a smokin' hot erotic menage story. This is NOT for the person who likes sweet romances- it's graphic erotic romance with a bit of violence (the hitman stuff) so be warned.

If you like erotic menage romance stories, you will like this one. I give it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Update: The story of the Colter family continues on. First there was a nice short story about the three brother's and Holly being pregnant with their first child. Now there are two more books coming out continuing the story of this family with the children of Holly & and the four brothers AND a newly edited version of "Colters' Woman" with a longer ending (see Maya Banks' website for more on this).
Blogger friend Blanche posted about the new books coming out recently. For more on that please visit Blanche's blog HERE.
