I don't know when I've read so many great books in one month! What a great way to start off the new year! I am so happy I decided to dive deeper into UF books this year, I am truly loving the 'Grave' and 'Mercy' series so many of you recommended to me. Thanks!

Books in my challenges can be found in the right side bar of this blog - except for the YA books, those are found on The Cracked Spine blog.

New YA book releases for February (MUST READS for me - I think they sound like great reads) listed on my YA blog "The Cracked Spine" -check them out!!

I want to thank Patti (The Book Addict Blog) for giving me a blog award. Thanks!!

This award's rules are:

-Tell 7 secrets and tag 7 People:

Hmmm... 7 secrets about me. Egads, does anyone really want to know this stuff?! OK, here it goes...

1) I talk to myself - alot - sometimes I answer myself - ok not sometimes, often.

2) In real life I hardly ever swear or use any profanity at all (I save my profanity for my blog - aren't I nice?)

3) My boobs reach my belly button at this point in my life and I fear where they'll be in ten years.

4) My feet grew a shoe size with each pregnancy - I now resemble Fred Flintstone.

5) I used to shave my pubs in a heart shape (ok anyone who read my "Brie Stories" post already knew that one)

6) I have great hearing and rotten eyesight.

7) My earliest childhood memory is crapping my 'big girl' pants when I was three. Oh the disappointment!

Gee...I bet you all really wanted to know all that! LOL

I know I am supposed to tag 7 people, but I'd like to share this one with whomever reads this blog post - mostly because I am nosy and want to see you all spill your guts with some secrets!!

So come on, take the award and share a link to your blog from here so we can all go read what your secrets are!

"Iron Kissed" by Patricia Briggs

Title: Iron Kissed
Author: Patricia Briggs
Series: Mercy Thompson Bk#3
Published: 2008
Genre: UF
Pages: 287

Synopsis: "When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to shapeshifting car mechanic Mercy Thompson to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not. And she'll have to choose between the two werewolves in her life-whether she wants to or not."

This book started off very slow for me, but ended up being my very favorite of the series so far! Mercy is a good friend, loyal and steadfast. She is never selfish. As soon as a friend needs her she is there to do whatever she can for them.

This book was centered on friendship in my opinion. Several friendships actually. The first being her close friendship to Zee the man who got her started in her mechanics business. Zee asks for Mercy's help in solving a murder case, then finds himself jailed for several murders. Mercy is determined to prove Zee is innocent of the charges against him. But proving him innocent gets her in trouble and could cost her her own life if she's not careful.

Other friendships that grow stronger in this novel are between Mercy and Jesse, the alpha werewolf's daughter. Mercy and Ben, a werewolf Mercy wasn't very fond of in the first two books...more of Ben is revealed and Mercy begins to trust him and even depend on him. The strong and steady friendship of Mercy and Warren continues to grow (I love Warren).

And Mercy has to make a decision about werewolves Adam and Samuel - are they friends or will she decide she wants more from one of them? She needs to make her choice because the two dominant males are not going to tolerate each other for much longer and Mercy knows it.

Mercy is hurt in this book, in more ways than one. It was an emotional read that had me tear up for her. I really felt her pain and suffering. The writing was done very well here. I liked how Ben played a part in healing Mercy and getting Adam to see things clearly. In the end, Mercy made the right choice for exactly the right reasons with Adam and Samuel. Oh and what a cliff-hanger at the end!! I think I literally howled out loud at being left hanging like that!

I can't say that there was anything I didn't like about this story other than it seemed to start slow for me and I really REALLY don't like the book cover. Mercy has ONE tattoo near her bellybutton of a coyote paw print - that's it. The book cover has her covered in them and has her dressed very differently than the story portrays it. Other than that, this is my favorite book of the series and I can't wait to get hold of the next one! (It better start off exactly - and do mean exactly- where this one left off!)

Whatcha want to discuss?

I've got nothing for today (but a splitting headache and a kid home sick - had to record all my shows last night to watch sometime this weekend - so no spoilers please!).
Anyway, since I've got nothing today I am turning my blog over to all of you. Talk about anything you'd like!

Good book? Good movie? TV show (but don't tell me about last night's Vampire Diaries, Supernatural or Project Runway)??
Weekend plans?? Nasty weather (we got more snow and lots of wind)?

Whatcha want to discuss??

Some Supernatural Love

Today's post is all about my love of those Winchester boys (OK, so Dean is 30 now, but he's still boyish on the show). It's Thursday (woot, woot!) and that means tonight is Supernatural night at my house. Which translates into the kids being sent to bed EARLY, the phone getting turned off and my fat ass on the comfy couch eating a bowl of Fruit-Loop cereal (I prefer it over popcorn or chips).
To celebrate my obsessive love of Supernatural, I've collected some great Youtube videos (some people are just SO creative and talented - two gifts that are foreign to me).
Some of these videos are funny and some are just sexy!! (*sexy purr voice* "Deeeannn")

First up, grab a bottle of booze we're going to play the BEST drinking game EVVAAA!! So what's your poison?? I'm going with Rum. Ready? Got your drinks?? OK, let's play!!

Well all righty!! That was fun! How are you all doing?? Everyone still upright? Let's go another round, some of you lushes aren't even swaying yet!!

*looks around at bodies litering the floor* Woot!! Now that's a drinking game!!

***HOURS LATER THEY BEGIN TO STIR****

OK, shake it off!!! Come on, I've got MORE videos for you lushes!! I promise no more drinking games...for now anyway. *waggles eyebrows*

How about some Wincest?? You know, if the brothers were MORE than just brothers??

No? Ok, how about one of my favorite episodes?? This is the episode about the wishing well. When ever someone tossed a coin in the wishing well their wish came true. This is what happens when one little girl wishes her teddybear was real.

How about something more... "macho"??

How about some Dean?? nom, nom, nom, nom...

Still nomming(<--??) ...nom, nom, nom...

Time for some Supernatural disco...

*sigh* That's my Supernatural love for the day.

WTF Wednesday

*giggles* This one is just too good...

This is just WTF rude! (If you can't see it good, it says : 'FAT CHICKS PROHIBITED BEYOND THIS POINT' then gives the dates the sign is in effect for that beach) Guess my fat ass wouldn't be allowed.

I posted this one on DIK last week, but I love it, so I had to share it here too!

LOL...an alert for a small penis- wonder how many women turned their men in for this one?

Breakfast anyone??

I get a kick out of interesting and unusual signs...

I umm... there are no words for this one...

Who in their right mind would want this tattooed on their body??

OK, now you tell me which WTF photo takes the cake as the most WTF thing of the day?

Personally, I'm going with the corn on the cob thingy. *shudders*

Tuesday's This and That Post

My over all thoughts on last night's episode of The Bachelor - boring. Without the drama of Michelle the show really dragged on for me! LOL That's not to say I'd want her back, its just that after the first few episodes and all the tears, threats of leaving and overall drama, last nights episode was downright boring!

I was happy with all the women he sent packing (I didn't see any connection or chemistry with any of them and Jake), but still wish he'd have dumped Vienna too. Not because none of the women in the house like her -though that should send up red flags that something is off with this woman. But because of her own statements of being a "Daddy's Girl" - when ever she needs money Daddy tosses some to her. When ever she crashes her car (which is very often) Daddy goes out and buys her a new one. All that stuff just does NOT sound like the type of woman Jake is looking for. She's just all wrong for him in my opinion.

My favorites are still Tenley and Ali, but I am beginning to wonder about Ali. She almost seems like she WANTS certain women to stay there with her - isn't the point to get rid of other women so you can win Jake's heart?? I think Ali keeps forgetting that little detail and instead is trying to turn The Bachelor show into a sorority house! Focus Ali!! Focus!!

Tenley on the other hand is movie right along and opening up her heart to Jake and he is responding. She really is the sweetest one there and since Jake really came across as the sweetest guy on his previous season, they probably are a perfect match. And they make a cute couple too.

So that's it, my wrap up of The Bachelor for this week.

***Assorted new and old YA book trailers on my YA blog "The Cracked Spine" for anyone interested.

I am currently reading "Iron Kissed" by Patricia Briggs. This is the 3rd book in her "Mercy Thompson Series" and I am sorry to say it's boring so far. The first book was good-but not great (I gave it 3 stars). The second book I really loved (gave it 5 stars), it had page turning action from the first chapter and never quit.

This book...is very slow going and I find myself scanning paragraphs just to move on to something interesting. I hate when that happens in a book, but I am hopeful that things will improve soon. My problem is still not really liking ANY of the men - except the gay werewolf Warren. I really don't care if Mercy ends up with Adam or Samuel or kicks them both out of her life. They just don't interest or inspire me at all. I don't see anything attractive about them but I know I am supposed to - its just not happening for me. I hope that changes by the end of this book.

Overall, this series seems to be a hit or miss for me, but I am still interested enough to keep going and see how it all unfolds.

So what are you reading?

"White Lies" by Linda Howard

Title: "White Lies"
Author: Linda Howard
Published: 1997 (copyright 1988 Linda Howington)
Genre: Romantic Suspense Fiction
Pages: 250

Synopsis: "Nothing could have prepared Jay Granger for the arrival of two FBI agents at her door -- or for the news they brought. Her ex-husband, Steve, had been in a terrible accident that had left him gravely injured. The FBI needed Jay to confirm his identity.
The man Jay finds lying in the hospital bed is almost unrecognizable. Almost. Exhausted and afraid, Jay tentatively declares that he is Steve Crossfield. But the man who awakens from the coma is not at all as Jay remembers her husband. And he remembers nothing of their life together. Suddenly nothing is familiar. Not his appearance, not the intensity of his nature, not the desire that flashes between them. Who is this man? And will the discovery of his identity shatter the passion they share?"

Two covers: I have the old brownish cover with the rose which has nothing to do with the story at all. The new- cabin in the snow- cover is fantastic and perfectly fits the setting in the book.

My Review: This book has been on my keeper shelf for over a decade. I've read it at least a half a dozen times in the last ten years and love it each time I pick it up. The book doesn't start off with hot sex, instead it starts off with a man in the hospital with terrible injuries including being blind. When Jay is brought in he hears her voice and latches on to her. She calms him and gives him a reason to fight for his life.

A good part of the beginning of the book is spent on these two developing an incredible bond. Jay is falling in love but worries because her ex-husband was always an adventure junkie and never really settled down. Jay doesn't want to fall back into their old life, but she can't help the growing love within her as she spends day after day in the hospital caring for this man.

And while the man can't remember his life or anything personal, he knows about world events and politics. He's extremely frustrated that his mind is blocking information from him and he's also very suspicious and untrusting of everyone but Jay. Jay is his rock. He needs her and wants her and in his mind he's already claimed her as HIS. (He's VERY dominant Alpha male).

The FBI and other secret unnamed agencies want the information they believe is locked in his head but they have to wait until he heals to see if he can remember anything. They also have to protect him because if he does know something and anyone finds out he survived, then another hit will be put on him. So the FBI whisks him and Jay away to the mountains while they wait for his memory to return. And while he regains his strength and finally claims Jay as his in every way. Then his memory comes back completely and everyone must deal with what he knows - even Jay.

I adored the bond between these two, it was instant, strong, sexy and almost reminded me of the 'bond' between the mates in Lora Leigh's Breed books. The love and sexual tension and finally the sex, was intense and hot.

5/5 stars

***Re-Read 2010 Reading Challenge book***

January 23, 2010

My Saturday Post

I am still over on DIK, today is my last day on the Island so please stop by and see what I have cooked up for the day!

I finished reading "White Lies" by Linda Howard. This is a Re-read for the Re-Reading 2010 Reading Challenge I joined this year (see right side bar for more info on that).
I've read this book at least a dozen times - its that good.
It was first published in 1988 and I have been reading it since then!
Keeper Shelf material and I completely enjoyed digging it out for a re-read. I'll have that review up soon.

This weekend I have been watching "HEX" compliments of Netflix. I am really unsure of how I feel about this show. It's weird, but I don't know if I like it or can't stand it! It's SLOW going and it took me THREE DAYS to get through the first episode alone, but I have to admit its getting my attention. There are fallen angels, a lesbian ghost, ghost children, legends, myths, voodoo and more. It's also choppy, muttled and doesn't flow well in my opinion but I see its potential and that is getting me through season 1.
What I do love is the theme song "No.1 Crush" by Garbage.

Anyone else watch this show? I am on the first season, so I want to give it a chance as I've heard many people really like it. I'd love any comments on it, but please no spoilers. Just let me know if it should bother with season 2 or not. Thanks!

WTF Wednesday

I have to thank blogger friend Lea for today's WTF Wednesday photos. She recently sent me a "Walmart" email with the following photos of Walmart shoppers...they were just too funny not to share as my WTF Wednesday post. Enjoy...

1- Aren't they supposed to be in the front?

2- This isn’t prison buddy, you don’t have to hang on to her. Trust me, no one is thinking about stealing her from you.

3-You know, I hate having to pull my pants down and my shirt up to take a sh*t too. I think you have just invented a genius new idea there big guy!

4-I guess a bathing suit cover isn’t as self explanatory as I thought it was. Here is a hint, it is supposed to COVER!

5-Wow, nothing says “I know how to make friends” like a shirt that incorporates computers AND farting!

6-Hey Cletus, here’s a Muppet News Flash…….dem bucks can’t see you, so you don’t have to hide.

7-Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might have the wish I wish tonight…Cover it.

8-Ain’t nothin’ but a G-string baaaaabay! Two butt cheeks shakin’ like craaaaazay!

9-At first I thought her hair was creepy and weird. Then I thought “Well, where else would the muskrats live?” (Personally, I thought she had a stuffed animal on her head!)

10-Excuse me ma’am, if you want to head back to automotive we can have that spare tire fixed up in a jiffy.

11-Hahahahaha. I’m laughing because you can’t stop looking! You don’t want to, but you just can’t stop! Hahahahahah….gross.

12-You buy towels that will hide your hair-dye stains….that’s just smart shopping.

13-Damn, look how those legs go on up and make a man of themselves.

14-She still thinks it is 1968, and I’m still thinking about asking her to boogie on down with me!

15-This is absolutely ridiculous. How stupid and reckless could someone possibly be? There really needs to be some sort of parenting test that you have to pass.

16-Oh, those boots look like they’re made for more than just walking when you pair them with those gold spandex….shazaam!

17-The completely ironic thing is that she is buying a mirror. I mean we applaud the effort, but it looks like you were captured before you could prevent yourself from showing up on our site!

18-It’s as if some weird oddly shaped mass is sucking those Westy pants right in without her knowing it. I just can’t figure out what’s doing it.
19-You tryin’ to get you a taste of this meat?

20-Ever wonder where the expression ‘colder than a witch’s tit’ comes from?

Attention Walmart shoppers...

Please take a moment to look at yourselves in the mirror BEFORE you go out.

See what the rest of the world will see.

Oh and thanks for the great WTF Wednesday photos! *wink*

Looking Forward to Thursday

This Thursday...all new episodes of "Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural".

Here are some previews...might be some spoilers in there - but it looks oh so good!
More Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is always a verra, verra good thing... *cougar growl*

Can't wait! As much as the 'Vampire Diary' books bored me... the show is great! I can't get enough of Ian Somerhalder as "Damon" that bad, bad boy vampire.

And now for a peek at "Supernatural"...

My Bachelor Review

This is turning out to be quite an entertaining season of The Bachelor. Full of drama, cat fights, mental break downs, a frazzled Bachelor and several emotionally challenged women who I think are now watching the show in complete humiliation - or they should be if they are not.
The good news???

Ding dong! The Witch is dead...the witch is dead. That crazy, desperate melt-down drama queen Michelle is really and truly gone! And what a way to go - can't wait to see her on the follow up show at the end of this season.

Here is a clip from last week - one of her melt downs (one of oh so many!):

After all her threats, meltdowns and displays of psychotic stalker in the making moments, Michelle once again said she needed to go home (this time because Jake's kiss didn't rock her world with hair pulling and passionate groping the way her warped brain pictured it- she told her fantasy kiss scene to the camera several times so we all know how disappointed she was - she even told Jake "You gotta give me more than that!" at the end of the kiss), so Jake said "OK, go home" and walked her out the door. At which point Michelle looks into the camera and says she never saw this coming and is baffled why he let her go. ???? Someone medicate this woman and keep her away from small children and animals!

I kid you not, I was jumping off the couch saying "Yes! Yes! Yes!" (yay, I know what that sounds like) when Jake told Michelle to go. I was loving that moment and then cracking up when she looked into the camera and acted like she didn't put herself in that exact place.

But that wasn't the only "Yes! Yes! Yes!" moment for me last night. I did it again when Jake pinned Elizabeth the disturbed tease nanny, and called her out on her teasing and mixed signals. She's the one who in the first episode told him she didn't want him to kiss her and attempted to play this virginal role of 'I'm the good girl next door and a perfect lady' then last night she gave a raunchy comedy performance that had Jake's eyebrows shooting up. She was all about saying one thing then showing him the opposite with her actions. A complete fake that Jake figured out early on. I was happy to see her get the boot. She said things like she could get a date any day of the week and came off as thinking she shit rose petals. It was good to see her get the boot - looked like she'd never been dumped before. Her whole body was shaking with her final words as she left the mansion - I think she was in shock.

Some other thoughts... Ella got a one on one date with Jake to Sea World where Jake surprised her by flying in her seven year old son for the day. I don't think she was happy about that at first and I don't blame her in a way. Jake even admitted to having mixed feelings about doing that because its so early in the show and maybe Ella wouldn't introduce her son to a guy she's dating (who is also dating hordes of other woman). Also, how did he know she'd want her son on national TV? But since Jake and her son hit it off, I think she warmed to the gesture by the end of the date, but I don't think it started off that way. My other thought on Ella is that I think she reminds Jake of Jillian - the Bachelorette from last season who dumped him and he was in love with her. Not to mention that when Jillian and her boyfriend came on the first show, Jillian hand picked Ella for Jake and told him so. I think Jake is biased toward Ella for the wrong reasons - time will tell.

Every season there is that one woman who is hated. This season its Vienna the self proclaimed Daddy's Girl who gets everything she wants handed to her. Jake was clueless at the beginning of the show about the real Vienna, but by the end the other women made it clear there is a whole other side to Vienna that Jake doesn't know yet. Jake didn't take this well. As a matter of fact, Jake had a horrible week and was very frustrated, upset and frazzled most of the time. I get the impression Jake doesn't handle pressure or stress very well.

The other woman to go was Valishia who was barely shown last night because of all the other drama. So now Jake is left with nine women, Ali and Tenley (still my top two favorites), Vienna (the one everyone in the house hates), Ella (the Jillian replacement), Jessie (nothing memorable about her so far), Gia (who half-heartedly tried to befriend Vienna), Ashleigh (who had a melt down at the comedy show), and Kathryn (unmemorable so far) and Corrie (who outted the women's hate for Vienna to Jake during her comedy act).
