Men in kilts...a turn on

I love Scottish historical romances with the men wearing kilts. I admit it, men wearing kilts is a turn on for me. I love it. So in honor of men in kilts, I offer this post...

When a man wears a kilt women want to know what's under it...

And this photo answers that question...lol
(oh its just a tiny peek don't get flustered!)

Who could possibly think kilts aren't sexy or manly?

A kilt & a sword...be still my heart!

Damn he looks good in a red kilt.

And now for this weeks poll results:

The question was: Who makes you swoon the most?

-The bad boy that makes your mother cringe? 0% - no votes for the bad boy (that surprised me)

-The naughty boy who shocks you and makes you blush? 36% - you like the naughty boys!

-The wounded guy with scars/issues to overcome? 54%- you LOVE the guy who needs fixin'.

-The take charge 'I know what's best for you' man? 9% - you like him a little, but apparently most of us aren't willing to turn over all that power to a male. :o)
-------------------------------

This weeks poll is about my blog. I've been wondering if I should ditch the music. Please let me know what you think by voting in this weeks poll (sidebar area).

"Dangerous Games" by Lora Leigh

Wow, just wow. Read this book with a fan going ladies but read it! "Dangerous Games" by Lora Leigh is easily one of my very favorite books of ALL TIME. Outstanding! I have always loved books about military guys most especially romance and this one takes the cake! This is actually book 2 in her Tempting SEAL's series (the first being "Reno's Chance" in 'Honk If You Love Real Men'). I did not yet read "Reno's Chance" but I can tell you this book is fine as a stand alone. It's about Navy SEAL Clint "Iceman" McIntyre and Morganna Chavez (Reno's little sister). Morganna has had the hots for Clint since she was a kid and once she began filling out her clothes in sexy curves Clint has been secretly fantasizing about her too. But Clint won't for one second consider being with her, he's got too many issues and thinks she's some innocent delicate flower- to fragile for him and his powerful sexual needs.

For anyone who liked Vishous in JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I think you will adore Clint (wears leather, shitkicker boots and can kick some major ass when someone ticks him off). Clint is a wounded man with lots of scars from his abusive childhood and he's a Dom. Totally into the whole BDSM (Bondage and Discipline, Sadism and Masochism) and gets off on submissives who look like Morganna (since he won't sleep with her, he finds women who look like her). He is my first romance hero with a pierced penis! And boy oh good lord boy does he know how to use it with it's penis-to-balls chain and all! The whole pierced penis thing used to make me wince- NOT any more! lol :::fans self:::

Morganna is a spit fire (with pierced nipples by the way) who knows what she wants and goes after it. She loves the club scene and dancing- sexy dancing. With a brother (Reno) who is a Navy SEAL, she is often over protected until Reno gets married and she gets her own place. After waiting years for Clint (who keeps running away from her) she decides its time to move on so she joins the police force and goes undercover to bust a drug ring in BDSM clubs...of course! And who should see her shaking her ass on the dance floor but a leather-clad Dom Clint looking for some hot sex. He's instantly turned on and decides if anyone is going to be Morganna's Dom, it's going to be him! Morganna had NO idea Clint is a Dom and when she sees him in hot pursuit of her she hightails it off the dance floor so her cover won't be blown. No female gets away from Dom Clint when he wants her and he WANTS Morganna in every way possible. He grabs her and takes her to his private BDSM suite in the club (big bucks to have such a room fully equipped with all a Dom needs for his submissive's pleasure). She's shocked by what she sees there and by the fact that Clint is a Dom and submerged in the BDSM underworld. She didn't see that coming! LOL

Once Clint has Morganna in his sex room, he wants answers and sex- now! Morganna is as turned on by Clint as he is by her, but Morganna is wearing an ear piece and the cops are listening to every thing Clint is saying he wants to do to her, starting with spanking her ass! She does not want her cover blown but Clint being a Dom doesn't take instruction from anyone and won't let her leave the room. The cops have to send in one of their other undercover agents as a Dom who wants Morganna. Clint is not giving her up. Oh my!

Clint does find out what Morganna is doing and he flips out threatening everyone with death. The DEA team all know Clint from the SEAL's and they end up pulling him into the mission while he does all he can to get Morganna out and keep her safe. But Morganna is like a pitbull and won't back down or back out of the mission.

While all that is happening these two can NOT keep their hands off each other. This book is packed with sex- all kinds of sex (with handcuffs, vibrating butt plugs etc). It's an on-fire sexy romance book with lots of emotions. You can't help but feel bad for Clint. The abuse he suffered as a kid has totally messed him up and made him feel like he can never have love even though Morganna freely offers him her love. He loves her and wants her so badly it pains him, but he's damaged and it takes time and love and pitbull Morganna to break through his walls, heal his wounds and bring the man to his knees! And when that happens...ahhh...so sweet!

This book is packed with romance, smokin' hot sex, action, suspense and will stir your emotions. I totally loved it! 5 out of 5 stars!

Back Blurb:

"It’s not whether you win or lose. Navy SEAL Clint “Iceman” McIntire didn’t earn his nickname by being a coward. Or a quitter. Having crushed an infamous drug cartel in Colombia, Clint was nothing short of an American hero. Now he’s home, on a much-needed leave, but instead of some R&R, he finds himself neck-deep in trouble with his best friend’s little sister, Morganna Chavez, the only woman who has the power to bring him to his knees. . . It’s how you play…. Morganna has been secretly working with the DEA to uncover a thriving date-rape drug, which leads her to a shadowy faction that is more deadly than anything her team has ever encountered. Now it’s up to Clint to keep this beautiful, determined agent out of harm’s way, even while the passion between them threatens to consume them. Soon Clint’s greatest mission will be not just keeping Morganna safe, but getting her into his arms and never letting go."

A must read in my opinion!

Thursday's Hunk

:::tears eyes off Thursday's eye candy:::
Now it all makes sense...why Blogger was messing up profile blogger lists. Have you noticed the new 'followers' feature on blogs? Now you can click on the blogger's icon and up comes their information. Neat, but why the hell doesn't the blogs I follow show up on my profile any more?
Oh well...hopefully one of these days everyone will show back up! Until then, I will just have to keep reading romance and gaze at nekkid men. *grins*

"Nauti Boy" by Lora Leigh

I love Lora Leigh's writing, no ifs, ands or buts about it! "Nauti Boy" is the first book in her Nauti series and it's a good one. The series is about the Mackay naughty boys who have a reputation for sharing women- that is three men taking one woman at the same time. Now I did not know this from reading the blurb so this came as a rather surprising first m/m/m/f book for me.

The Mackay boys are Rowdy (the hero of this story) and his cousins Dawg and Natches. When the boys were young, very young they hooked up with a divorced woman who taught them all there was to know about sexual pleasure and how three men could pleasure a woman much more than only one man because three men would leave no part of a woman unattended during sex. Rowdy believes this completely so even when he admits he's in love with Kelly (his step sister by the way) he wants to share her with his cousins so they can all have the ultimate pleasure. At least that is what he thinks in the beginning before he begins to feel jealousy at other men bringing Kelly pleasure. This becomes an issue for the Nauti boys.

The other major issue is that while Rowdy was away in the military, Kelly is brutally attacked and nearly raped but the secret is kept from him because all feared he would go AWOL trying to get back to Kelly. The attacker is still out there, stalking Kelly and someone needs to find him before he strikes again. Kelly has to over come her fears of men and who better to help her than the Nauti boys?

What I really liked about the book was that Rowdy grew up and Kelly didn't let the attack stop her from loving a man or having a sexual relationship. She was fearful, but faced it and moved forward one step at a time.

The characters were engaging, the sex steamy and the 'who-done-it' a surprise.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Fun sexy read! I will be reading MUCH more Lora Leigh in the future.

So hot it sizzles!

Well I found yet another author to glom (you can never have too many). *grins*
Lora Leigh books have now become the focus of my glomming addiction. I am reading "Nauti Boy" and even though it's about 30 degrees outside at the moment I really need a fan! Good lord this woman writes steamy jaw dropping scenes! I am not half way through the book and I know, just KNOW I have to get all the other books in this "Nauti" series and anything else she's written. So I head over to Barnes & Noble online and order 5 more books by her. Having fulfilled my over-powering need to glom for the moment, I can now get back to the book knowing there are more on the way to my door as I read! Ahh...have I mentioned how much I love the UPS man?

glom
-glom onto, to take hold or possession of: He wanted to glom onto some of that money.

"Jacob" by Jacquelyn Frank

Over all I'd say I liked "Jacob" by Jacquelyn Frank very much. The love story was great, the plot well thought out and the characters interesting. The hero is Jacob, a demon and the love of his existence is Isabella a human with a complicated ancestry that causes her to be Jacob's soul mate and triggers off a change in her. Jacob is The Enforcer of the demon world. When a demon goes astray or is transformed into a vicious beast it is the Enforcers job to handle the situation with either punishment or death. One night while Jacob was hunting a wayward demon (his brother), he meets up with Isabella. Isabella seems to have stronger instincts than most humans and thus starts their relationship with a 'job' followed by attraction followed by 'I can't live without you'- literally! Once she becomes the soul mate of Jacob her life depends on being with him. A long separation means certain death. The problem is, demons aren't supposed to have sex with humans because it could kill the human. Isabella is hot for Jacob and Jacob does his best to keep a distance but they are fated to be together and Destiny keeps pulling them together. When Isabella's ancestry is discovered, it is believed she can have sex with Jacob and survive (gee, that's good news!). So they go for it. Talk about earth shattering sex! Their orgasm shatters out a castles windows and nearly levels the place! There are two perfect terms used in the book to describe it "cataclysmic release" and "detonation of climax" (page 194)- oh my! That certainly raised my eyebrows! LOL I liked Isabella tremendously. She was spunky, caring, innocent and provocative all at once. Jacob I liked for the most part, but I did find him always looking at the down side to get irksome. He was a "the glass is half empty" sort and I am a "the glass is half full" sort. His pessimism bugged me a bit when repeatedly it was Isabella who has to point out the good and make him see the right because he never could do that on his own. That is a personal pet peeve of mine even with people around me, so reading this character flaw (to me it is a flaw) in a hunky hero was disheartening to me because he never got over it. Other than that, it was a good first "demon" book for me. I give it 3.5 stars out 5.

Hump Day Hunks and Humor

Happy Hump Day everyone! What's Hump day without some hunky eye candy? For your viewing pleasure...

Ride 'em cowboy!

I think he's having an erotic daydream.

I never see that coming out of the ocean!

Oh yeah!

----
And now for the humor part!

Who is the most popular guy at the nudist colony?
The guy who can carry a cup of coffee in each hand and adozen donuts.
----
A man and his wife go to their honeymoon hotel for their 25th anniversary. As the couple reflected on that magical evening 25 years ago, the wife asked the husband, "When you first saw my naked body in front of you, what was going through your mind?"
The husband replied, "All I wanted to do was to fuck your brains out, and suck your tits dry."
Then, as the wife undressed, she asked, "What are you thinking now?"
He replied, "It looks as if I did a pretty good job."
----
A man and a woman started to have sex in the middle of a dark forest. After about 15 minutes of it, the man finally gets up and says, "Damn, I wish I had a flashlight!". The woman says, "Me too, you've been eating grass for the past ten minutes!"
----
Three guys go to a ski lodge, and there aren't enough rooms, so they have to share a bed. In the middle of the night, the guy on the right wakes up and says, "I had this wild, vivid dream of getting a hand job!" The guy on the left wakes up, and unbelievably, he's had the same dream, too. Then the guy in the middle wakes up and says, "That's funny, I dreamed I was skiing!"
Happy Hump Day!!!!

Scratch the 'happy': It's Ticked Off Tuesday!

ACK! Friggin Blogger!
Whatever messed with Barbara's profile deleting all the blogs she follows has now done the same thing to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the blogs in my profile have disappeared. *sniff*

I just want you all to know, I did NOT stop following your blogs- Blogger deleted them.
If I have suddenly disappeared as a follower of your blog would you let me know?

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Ahh...I just love Tuesday's eye candy.

I am currently reading "Jacob" by Jacquelyn Frank and I am loving it. I think this is my first book all about demon's as a race and the main characters of the story. So far so good.

UPS came yesterday and delivered my latest five books that I can't wait to get my hands on. They are "An Irresistible Bachelor" and "An Unforgettable Lady" by Jessica Bird (AKA J.R. Ward). Then there's "Nauti Boy" and "Dangerous Games" by Lori Leigh and last but not least I got "3 Brides for 3 Bad Boys" by Lucy Monroe - I just love the title of this book!

So the plan for today is to finish "Jacob" and then decide what to read next. Sometimes its just so hard to pick one when there are so many good books waiting to be read and not enough time in the day to satisfy my desire to read them all! :o)

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! I don't have any new reviews ready yet, but I'd like to give a shout out to Racy Romance Reviews...
Oh those throbbing members!

Jessica over at Racy Romance Reviews needs your help with "yummy-doodles" and the heroines who fear them- at least at first until they get to know them better.

Here's a blurb from her post:

"I need your help finding scenes where the heroine is awed, mystified, terrified, bowled over, worried, confused, nauseous, or any other negative or highly charged emotion upon sight of the Phallus. Scenes where the heroine thinks, “That’s it?” or “Why isn’t that in my mouth right now?”, are NOT what I seek (I’ll do a post on that sort of reaction later)."

Oh and did I forget to mention it's a contest with a $15 gift certificate to Amazon.com?

So check it out!

Time for Some Sunday Slapstick!

Sex in the Jungle
One day Jane met Tarzan in the jungle. She was very attracted to him and, during her questions about his life, she asked him how he managed for sex. "What's that?" he asked. She explained to him what sex was, and he said, "Oh,Tarzan use hole in trunk of tree."
Horrified, she said, "Tarzan you have that all wrong! I will show you how to do it properly." She took off her clothes, lay down on the ground, and spread her legs wide. "Here," she said, pointing, "You must put it in here."
Tarzan removed his loincloth, stepped closer and then gave her an almighty kick in the crotch. Jane rolled around in agony.
Eventually she managed to gasp, "Why the hell did you do that?"
"Tarzan check for bees!"

-----
The Moral of the Story...
The teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it. The next day, the kids came back and, one by one, began to tell. There were all the regular types of stuff: spilled milk and......
But then the teacher realized, much to her dismay, that one student hadn't written anything.
"Ernie, do you have a story to share?"
"Yes ma'am. My daddy told a story about my Aunt Karen. She was a pilot in Desert Storm, and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory, and all she had was a flask of whiskey, a pistol, and a survival knife. She drank the whiskey on the way down so the bottle wouldn't break, and then her parachute landed her right in the middle of 20 Iraqi troops. She shot 15 of them with the pistol, until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, till the blade broke, and then she killed the last Iraqi with her bare hands."
"Good Heavens," said the horrified teacher. "What kind of moral did your daddy tell you from this horrible story?"
"Stay the fuck away from Aunt Karen when she's been drinking."

------

And some fun stuff I found on Youtube...(I love Youtube).

Do you know the Fruitcake Lady from the Tonight Show? She's got all the answers to life's questions...

Ahh...now here's one I am sure you won't be expecting...lol- I sure wasn't. If this doesn't make men quit smoking I don't know what will (over 18 video).

And here's a clip from a show (I have no idea which one). This couple cracked me up! This is X-rated for the laungage, nothing graphic.

(The 'what if you needed to identify me' part had me cracking up! LOL)

X-rated new to me words...read at your own risk

Reading urban fantasy/romance books is new to me...very new to me, as in only the last few months. I often don't understand the language or know what abbreviations mean, so I had to hunt around the Internet going first to Google and Wiki. Then I discovered "Urbandictionary.com" and that has never failed to provide me with the answer I was seeking. Besides learning what the hell I originally went there searching for, I've found dozens upon dozens of other enlightening, graphic, appalling, shocking and bewildering words that I never knew existed for things that I didn't think needed names to begin with- but that's another story. Apparently I've been living under a rock all my life because I have never heard these words or terms used before.

Some are quite entertaining- most are shocking and many are gross...at least to me, but what the hell do I know, it's already been determined I've been living under a rock!

Anywho...I thought I would share some of the words that I discovered over the last few months, if you are offended easily DO NOT READ THIS, and I apologize in advance if you are too tempted and read it anyway then get offended-(that's what I would do anyway- lol).

Be warned these are XXX-rated definitions and if you are anything like me, you might fall off your chair, gag, laugh or stop reading this post at once. So you've been warned...read at your own risk!!

I'd be interested in knowing if any are new to you (that is...perhaps I am not the only one living under a rock, and I will feel much better) or if you've heard these all before scores of times in which case I will just crawl back under my rock now.

So here goes (all of these were completely unknown to me)...A through Z from Urbandictionary.com

A is for: "Ass Master"
meaning: A man who, through intense dedication of his entire being, has mastered the pursuit and attainment of the female ass.

Add a little leakage (precum) from one (or both of their dicks), mutual excitement, rubbing, grinding, heavy breathing and the result is a mind-blowing orgasm for both men.

L is for: "Lobcoon"
meaning: When you go to the beach and get sunburned while wearing sunglasses thus leaving the area around your eyes unchanged. You have now become half lobster and half raccoon.

M is for: "Man Flu"
meaning: The one week out of the year when a man has a cold, and doesn't feel good, and exercises his right to complain and whine- contrary to every fucking day of a woman's life when we have to hear you complain. The man flu is usually accompanied by a lack of sympathy from females, which further advances the adverse symptoms of the man flu.

This agreement must involve a minimum of two individuals, with the maximum number to be determined in practical application.

Q is for: "Quirkyalone"

So there you have some of the new words I've learned while visiting UrbanDictionary.com

"Mr. And Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One" by Sharon Lathan

Kudos to Sharon Lathan for her delightful telling of the months following Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's wedding in "Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One" novel! Anyone who is a fan of the movie version of 'Pride & Prejudice' starring Kiera Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen will enjoy this continuance of their love story. The novel starts with a foreword from the author telling of her first seeing the movie in 2005 and how it gave her "warm fuzzy feeling's running amok"...which I am sure many of us can empathize with!

The continuing story of Elizabeth and William (as Lizzy & his family call Mr. Darcy) begins with their marriage and includes a few flashbacks to the days leading up to the wedding. These flashbacks occur a few times in the book and are often flashes of scenes from the movie its self. I just loved this! It gave me a great visual and fed my hunger for all the 'what happened next' feelings the end of the movie left me with.

The book is full...I mean FULL of William and Elizabeth pledging their undying love for one another and sex! Lots of sex! Not graphic, but tasteful. What was a bit unexpected to me was Mr. Darcy revealing to Elizabeth that he is a virgin like her, but that he's well read on the subject of sex and pleasing a wife. He admits this when Elizabeth comes to him before the marriage with her concerns about sex after a rather discouraging talk with her mother Mrs. Bennet who told her "I have headache" works wonders at keeping a husband away and getting out of wifely duties once an heir is produced. The openness, honesty and awkwardness of these two totally in love virgins trying to put each other at ease about this part of their marriage was nicely done and totally unexpected by myself when reading it.

Their love story continues beautifully in Ms. Lathan's version of what happens after the wedding. If at all possible, they fall more deeply in love with each other each passing day. Elizabeth has much to learn about being a Darcy and running such a large household, but William is patient and doesn't pressure her at all. They quite rapidly fall into marriage and knowing each others moods and needs as if (like we didn't already know) they were destined to be together. Soul mates in every way. Marriage is bliss and one long honeymoon for the Darcy's.

Enter evil villain: the Marquis of Orman. Orman and William despise each other and have for years for no particular reason, but the feelings are mutual between them. Orman (clearly a fool) is driven to harass Elizabeth and as you can imagine Mr. Darcy doesn't take well to this at all. I won't give away all that, but it was great fun to read and of course Mr. Darcy, fine specimen of man that he is, turns out the hero to save the day of his beloved Elizabeth!

Well done Sharon Lathan! I truly enjoyed revisiting Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy and was thrilled that you took your cue from my favorite movie version of the book. 5 out of 5 stars.

Woohoo! It's Friday!

Happy Friday! After reading so many great reviews on numerous blogs about Lora Leigh's books I had to see what I was missing. So much to my delight I found her "Nauti Boy" series about military guys- I just LOVE romance books with military/soldier guys. So I ordered the first book in the Nauti series, "Nauti Boy" from Barnes & Noble online, hopefully I will have these books in a few days. I can't wait to get started on them!

Here's the back blurb for "Nauti Boy":

"Too weak to resist young Kelly Benton's attempts at seduction, Rowdy Mackay left home eight years ago. Duty as a U.S. Marine put a safe distance between Rowdy and the nubile Kentucky vixen with persuasive desires of her own. Now, he's returned home, his fantasies fueled, ready to engage the young woman in the kind of erotic games that have earned him and his two cousins Nauti-boy reputations in three counties. Once, it was Kelly's dream, too, to feel the heat of the boy she desired. But a brutal attack from a stalker still on the prowl has left Kelly terrified of the dark unknown and of a man's touch. Now, as fear and desire converge, Rowdy fights for the only woman he ever loved—to save her from the deadly threats of a stranger, to rid her of her demons, and to satisfy a hunger more powerful than either can imagine."

_________

I also found her book "Dangerous Games" that sounds great to me.

Here's the blurb:

So those are my first two Lora Leigh books.

-------------------------

Then since I am so strung out waiting for JR Ward's next Black Dagger Brotherhood series book to come out, I decided to get some of her other books she's written under the name "Jessica Bird", so I purchased "An Unforgettable Lady" and "An Irresistible Bachelor".

The back blurb for "An Unforgettable Lady":

"She thought she had everything she ever wanted— until she met the only man she’d ever need. . . . Forced into the spotlight by her fabulous wealth, heiress Grace Hall isn’t always prepared for the consequences of her standing. When a string of attacks against the city’s most prominent women leaves Grace vulnerable, the refined beauty reluctantly hires a bodyguard. Now she finds herself subject to the ironclad will of her new protector. In spite of her frustration, Grace is drawn to John Smith in ways she can’t explain. For beneath his tough exterior and dark past, there’s an inner core that is tantalizingly seductive. John knows that when you’re a professional bodyguard, it needs to be all business. But such conduct makes for a solitary life with few ties and too many good-byes. Grace was supposed to be just another assignment on a long list. Yet there’s something about her that gets under his skin. With each passing day, the attraction grows more intense—until John is faced with a decision he never thought he’d have to make. Can he give up the only life he’s ever known to be with the only woman he’s ever loved?"

Here's the back blurb for "An Irresistible Bachelor":

"He was a confirmed bachelor—and a gorgeous work of art. For struggling art conservationist Callie Burke, the chance to restore a world-famous painting is the opportunity of a lifetime—one that no one in her right mind would turn down. Call her crazy, but Callie has serious reservations about working with the painting’s owner. Warm and sexy, Jack Walker makes no attempt to hide the strong attraction he feels for Callie—even as she tries to keep their relationship professional. Now, cocooned in his studio in Boston, she will either have to learn to ignore the man and concentrate on the masterpiece, or give in to the kind of passion that can never be captured on canvas. Jack Walker is a practical man who runs his life, his empire, and his fortune effortlessly. Yet from the moment he met Callie Burke, he wanted her with all the intensity of a first crush. As he gets to know her, the desire blossoms into something more—and Jack finds that for the first time in his life he is leading with his heart instead of his head. . . ."

------------------------------------

And my last book purchase is by an author I have never read, Lucy Monroe. I loved the title, the cover and the blurb, so I hope I enjoy the book.

Here's the back blurb for "3 Brides for 3 Bad Boys":

"They're not the marrying kind-more the Do NOT Take Home to Mom kind. But these three brothers are about to meet the tempting women who have what it takes to tame their inner bad boys... RAND After tragedy struck six years ago, Rand buried what was left of his heart. But Phoebe Garrison isn't giving up, and she's got an enticing deal: the coveted deed to property his company needs in exchange for one hot week in her bed. It's an offer even the brooding Rand can't refuse. Now, as every hunger is explored, every secret revealed, Rand knows he'll need more than one week to indulge his fantasies with this amazing woman... CARTER As marriage proposals go, Carter's offer to Daisy Jackson lacks romance: Marry me and I'll give you a half-a-million dollars. To fulfill the requirements of his father's lucrative will, he needs a wife, and Daisy needs the money. But after a wedding night of absolutely explosive sensuality, Carter wants more than an arrangement. He wants Daisy, to have, to hold, and everything else... COLTON Waking up in Vegas next to a naked showgirl named Fayre after a scorching night of passion puts a smile on Colton Denning's face-until he discovers she's his new wife. How could the stable, workaholic Colton have married such an unpredictable force of nature, a woman as likely to throw pottery as a kiss? But when it comes to tender love-and erotic war-Colton's discovering that all is Fayre... With these bad boys, you may kiss the bride is only the beginning…"

I'd love to hear if any one's read these and what you thought. If you've got a review would you share a link to it? Hopefully I will read at least two of these by next week and have some reviews of my own to post- though I've still got an enormous TBR stack already waiting for me.

"A Well Favored Gentleman" by Christina Dodd

I have mixed thoughts on "A Well Favored Gentleman" by Christina Dodd. First, I wasn't expecting to read another fantasy/paranormal romance. The blurb gave no hint...or none that I saw anyway. And I am not really sure what the title and cover had to do with the book. Just doesn't fit well in my opinion with the story its self.

Here's the back blurb, you decide if this sounds like a paranormal:

LADY OF MYSTERY

"Where has she been? The rumors fly throughout the Scottish countryside about Lady Alanna, the beautiful and mysterious displaced mistress of Fionnaway Manor. And now she has emerged from hiding, only to find her beloved estate besieged by greedy relatives. . .and coveted by a darkly handsome Englishman.

A WELL FAVORED GENTLEMAN

Ian Fairchild knows that Fionnaway belongs to him alone. For years he yearned for the cherished place where he passed his childhood. He can secure his rights to the manor only through marriage with the enigmatic Alanna, but the exquisite hellion has warned him at knifepoint to leave her house. Now with skill and charm, Ian must penetrate the lady's defenses, and boldly lay claim to her body and spirit. But first he must prove himself worthy, and he holds the power to enchant and delight, inflame and inspire. . .and to convince this lady her tru.e home is in her lover's heart."

Now I know it says "he holds the power to enchant and delight" but I thought that meant in bed! Not that he didn't do that too...but he was only half human. Let me back up. The story is about Lady Alanna whose in a difficult position. She's got an evil guardian who attempts to rape her because she won't marry him - he's after her property. Then she's got greedy cousins who are also after her property and if she doesn't marry they will inherit it all. To keep away from her evil guardian, Alanna goes incognito as an old witch and lives in hut not far from her manor house. The guardian (Leslie, an Englishman) and her evil cousins don't know where she's gone and they can not get her property until she's been declared legally dead- which takes years so Alanna's got time on her side for now.

But while she's gone, the manor suffers from lack of care and a guardian who spends more than the property makes in a year. When Leslie's son Ian arrives because he's heard his father is dying, Ian covets Alanna's home and all its land like nothing before. He feels at home and nothing will stop him from getting his hands on the land. So now Alanna not only has to fight off Leslie and her greedy Scottish cousins, she's now also got Ian to deal with. But Ian is incredibly handsome and very hard to resist. He also sees through her witch costume and decides to claim her in a way no other male has yet to claim her. He beds her. He sneaks into her witches hut one night and while shes sleeping under the influence of the herbed wine she drank, he has sex with her making her forever his.

Alanna thinks she's just had a very erotic vivid dream, but Ian is quite pleased with himself. He now believes it will be easy to get her to marry him and sets out to woo her win her property. Of course his father Leslie and her Scottish cousins have other ideas. Ian slowly wins Alanna over, but Ian has his own issues that surface. Him being only half human is one of them. His mother was a selkie.

Now I had never heard of a selkie before, so I had to check with Wiki to find out what the hell a selkie was. Apparently its a sort of mermaid type creature that can shed its seal-like skin and become human at will. While Ian's mother did this, his father Leslie couldn't resist her and they lusted after each other. Ian was the result. But Leslie abandoned his selkie mate to return to England. Ian was raised for a few years by his mother alone- then she went to England and gave Ian to his father so she could return to the sea. Ian has huge abandonment and love issues. His father was mean and nasty to him, so he never knew love and can not trust Alanna's feelings for him. He accepts her lust, but not her love believing himself unlovable.

Alanna and Ian run off to get married then make the announcement. The cousins seem to handle it well, but Ian's father Leslie who is still slowly dying of a strange nasty disease has secrets he has not revealed to Ian. Things that threaten to destroy Alanna and Ian's marriage.

I won't give all that way, but at this point things turn from a human love story to more fantasy selkie stuff. There are mysterious stones, legends, selkie magic and power- like the ability to control the weather and the ocean.

In the end, there is a happily ever after for this couple.

As far as fantasy stuff goes, I prefer vampires and werewolf stuff and usually stand clear of things like selkies or mermaids etc., just not my cup of tea. Had I known this was about selkies I know I would not have even purchased it, but that said it wasn't a bad story. Just not really my taste- especially since I was looking for a 'normal' historical romance- not another fantasy book. But on a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3. If you like fantasy I am sure you will like this more than I did.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day! I didn't finish either book I am currently reading so I don't have a review for today, but I do have some stuff to share. First, there is a new show called "Castle" coming out next month on ABC starring Nathan Fillion. I have enjoyed watching this actor on a few SciFi shows over the years and I think the trailer looks good so I plan on checking it out. If you don't know who Nathan Fillion is, here ya go...

Ya know I HAD to, just HAD to find a nekkid picture of him to share! *g* This is what ABC says about "Castle":
"Wildly famous mystery novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is bored with his own success. Then he learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murder scenes depicted in his novels. Castle is questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a bright and aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under tight rein. Though they instantly clash, sparks of another sort also begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle steps in to help find the killer. And once that case is solved, he and Beckett build on their new relationship as they look to solve more strange homicides in New York - as much fun as one can have with death and murder. Castle is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan), and quick-witted teenage daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn). Also starring in the series are Ruben Santiago-Hudson as NYPD Captain Roy Montgomery, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan. "Castle" is produced by ABC Studios. Andrew Marlowe (writer, "Air Force One") serves as executive producer/writer, along with executive producers Armyan Bernstein, Barry Schindel, Rob Bowman (who also directed the pilot) and Laurie Zaks."
The Trailer for "Castle":

-----------------------
The next thing I wanted to share this hump day is an erotic romance book by Kathleen Dante called "Entangled". I have never read anything by this author- yet, but this one sounds really good to me and I will reading it.
Here's the description:
"What's in a woman's heart... Brilliant executive Kiera Stevens finds herself in a vulnerable position when she suspects insider espionage. Someone she trusts is stealing company secrets and threatening her professional future. What she needs is an undercover man... What's on a man's mind... Security expert John Atlantis never expected his client to be such a hot distraction. That's what makes his covert plan to pose as her lover so irresistible. What unfolds between them is no ruse-and what it sparks is beyond their control. Now, while their defenses are down, a devious high-tech spy is moving closer, and watching Kiera's every move. What he sees, he likes. And what he likes, he takes."
You can purchase it HERE.

Here is a promotion video for another book "Endangered" by this author (looks & sounds good to me!):

Tuesdays Just Got Better...

I feel rotten! I really, really hate not to finish a book I've started but I just can't seem to get through "too good to be true" by Kristan Higgins. *sigh* I am not going to toss the book (a book has to be horrid for me to toss it), I don't think "too good to be true" is horrible, its just currently unreadable for me. So I am putting it on the bottom of my TBR stack- it may resurface around the year 2035 by then it might qualify as a 'historical' and I might like it better. *grins* So to cheer myself up, I created the "Tuesday's Just Got Better" hunk above and it worked, I am feeling better already. *wags eyebrows* Amazing what glimpsing nekkid hot male flesh can do to perk a person up!

So now I am faced with the question of what to read next. I sorted through my TBR stack and found a few books but nothing is really begging to be read. Maybe I am still in my winter slump, but I just can't find a good book to get lost in. I am done with fantasy magic stuff for the moment and would like to read a good historical or contemporary romance with no ghosts, demons, witches or (I can't believe I am saying this) vampires. Although if J.R. Ward had another Black Dagger Brotherhood book ready I'd be all over it. (There are always exceptions!)

So I have picked two historical romances. The first, "Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One" by Sharon Lathan. I've already started this one and so far (up to chapter 3) its pretty good. The second book is "A Well Favored Gentleman" by Christina Dodd. What I love about Christina Dodd besides her interesting characters, is how fast paced her books are. They are usually very fast reads for me and books that I don't want to put down (like her Darkness Chosen series- fantastic!). So I am hoping to finish one of these books by tomorrow or be nearly finished with both.

What I want, what I really, really WANT...

What I want- besides the hottie on the motorcycle *wipes drool off chin*, is a Kindle2 -*more drool*. I just can't help looking at it, wanting it, obsessing over it and fantasying about all the great books I will read on my own Kindle2 one day. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare $400 bucks waiting to be spent. Damn! But I've fallen, fallen in love with the Kindle2. So far the love is one sided as the Kindle2 doesn't even know I exist, but one day I hope to change that. Until then, it will remain my fantasy and just out of reach- like the hottie on the motorcycle. *g*

My weekend reads:
Finished "Wild Highland Magic" by Kendra Leigh Castle, but can't post my review till May 2009 for that one. But I will say it was good.
I am currently reading "Too Good to Be True" by Kristan Higgins but it's slow going and I don't really know why. It's got humor and a good set up for romance, but for me its been slow going. The other book I began was "Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One" by Sharon Lathan and I am enjoying it so far. It was inspired by the Kiera Knightley/Matthew MacFayden version of 'Pride & Prejudice' which is one of my all time favorite movies, so this is a MUST read for me. This (along with "Wild Highland Magic") is another advanced copy for review given to me by Danielle L. Jackson of Sourcebooks, Inc., and this one will be released next month!

Some Sunday Slapstick

Underwear is Important
Always wear clean underwear in public, especially when working under your vehicle... From the Northwest Florida Daily News comes this story of a Crestview couple that drove their car to Wal-Mart, only to have their car break down. The man told his wife to carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car in the lot. When the wife returned there was a small group of people near the car. On closer inspection, she saw a pair of male legs protruding from under the chassis.Although the man was in shorts, his lack of underpants turned private parts into glaringly public ones. Unable to stand the embarrassment, she dutifully stepped forward, and tucked everything back into place. On regaining her feet, she looked across the hood and found herself staring at her husband. The mechanic, however, had to have three stitches in his forehead.

Two guys and a girl were sitting at a bar talking about their lives.
The one guy said, "I'm a YUPPIE. You know, Young Urban Professional."
The second guy responded, "I'm a DINK. You know, Double Income No Kids."
They then asked the woman, "What are you?"
She replied: "I'm a WIFE. You know, Wash, Iron, Fuck, Etc."

Happy Friday!

My weekend reading plans involve two books. The first is an advanced copy of Kendra Leigh Castle's "Wild Highland Magic" compliments of Danielle L. Jackson at Sourcebooks, Inc. I haven't wanted to put this book down all day today. I am smack dab in the middle of it and while it's more fantasy romance than I am used to, I am totally in love with the characters and really clueless about where its all heading and how it will end (there are so many possibilities!). It's a page turner.

Then for Valentine's Day, I will be starting "Too good to be true" by Kristan Higgins. This was my impulse buy at the pharmacy last week and I think the back blurb sounds delightful!

Back blurb: "When Grace Emerson's ex-fiance starts dating her younger sister, extreme measures are called for. To keep everyone from obsessing about her love life, Grace announces that she's seeing someone. Someone wonderful. Someone handsome. Someone completely made up! Who is this Mr. Right? Someone...exactly unlike her renegade neighbor Callahan O'Shea. Well, someone with his looks, maybe. His hot body. His knife-sharp sense of humor. His smarts and big heart.
Whoa. No. Callahan O'Shea is not her perfect man! Not with his unsavory past. So why does Mr. Wrong feel so...right?"

"The Summer House" starring Robert Pattinson

The buzz for Robert Pattinson's (Twilight's 'Edward') new movie "The Summer House" is all over the Internet, but I didn't know until I visited the film's website that it was based on a book by Ian Beck.

The Original Book

The Summer House book is available from Dennis Hall
Artist's Choice Editions
Inky Parrot Press
The Foundry Church
Hanbrough
OXFORD OX29 8AB Tel. 01993 881 260

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a place in the US to purchase this book from. So for now, I will have to make do with seeing the film first I guess.

From the film's website, this is what it says about "The Summer House" starring Robert Pattinson, to be released in the spring of 2009:

"The Summer House is about a moment in a young girl's life. A turning point, a time for decision: to go back, or go forward?
Jane (17) is in rural France visiting her aunt Priscilla during the hot summer of 1969, the year of the Moon landings. Also staying at this beautiful 19th century chateau, a sleeping beauty of a house, are her aunt’s old flame Freddie Porteous, a charming Englishman, and his wife Marie Pierre, a French woman of great sophistication and beauty.
Jane has left behind an unfaithful first love. Several letters have pursued her, letters decorated with hearts to tempt her. The author of these letters, Richard (18), turns up uninvited. Jane is unaware that her situation is provoking tensions among the older generation, she catches whispers of unspoken somethings at the heart of Freddie and Priscilla's relationship and she finds Marie Pierre’s allure and passion unsettling.
Jane looks to her role models for advice but Priscilla, Freddie and Marie Pierre have become wrapped up in their own giddy feelings about what it was like to be 17 and in love. At a party to celebrate the moon landings Jane is transformed by Marie Pierre from English mouse to sophisticated woman. Wanting to impress and suspecting Richard might be at the party she holds her head high.
Dizzy from dancing and emboldened by champagne Jane ventures out to the Summer House. Curiosity has got the better of her. Is there a dalliance between her sensible aunt and charismatic Freddie? Instead she is confronted a repentant Richard. He wants her back. She is impossibly tempted, but repelled by his crude attempt to force her. The romantic ideal of young love becomes crushed by his rough desire and by the giggling arrival of Priscilla and Freddie. Jane is forced to face the disappointment of reality. Troubled by Richard’s motivation and by the apparent immaturity of Priscilla & Freddie, she burns the unopened letters and drops them into a deep well. Her world has changed, expanded; a more complex fairy tale is emerging
…"

And here's the movie trailer for "The Summer House":

Sounds interesting to me (and the movie clip looks good), but I'd really love to read the book- as we all know books are usually so much better than movies. So if anyone knows where I can get this book, please fill me in!

"Heiress for Hire" by Erin McCarthy

Just finished reading "Heiress for Hire" by Erin McCarthy and I loved it! The characters hooked and engaged me from chapter one. There was humor, dry wit, vulnerability, charm, tension, longing, wounds needing healing, trust, love, friendship, sex and lots more. The story is about a rich social butterfly heiress named Amanda Delmar who gets cut off from her endless supply of money from her father while she is in the country. The credit cards are cut off, the bank accounts, everything. She's got next to nothing to live on but her rental house is paid for a few more weeks. She needs a job, only there isn't much she's qualified to do in the country. Danny Tucker is a divorced farmer who wants nothing more than to keep his life on the farm and get himself a wife and children. Part of that wish comes true right off the bat when a skinny dirty eight year old child is dumped on his doorstep. Apparently years ago, Danny had a brief intimate encounter with a woman while he and his wife were split up and the encounter had produced a child. Piper. Danny never knew about the girl until her step father dropped her off telling him the mother was dead and he didn't want the kid. Danny was shocked and thrilled at the same time. He had a daughter and loving Piper came easy and naturally to him. But what did he know about eight year old little girls? And what was he going to do with her while he ran the farm? He was desperate for help and Amanda was desperate for a job because she was beginning to starve to death eating stale cereal every day. Danny hires Amanda (of all people) to be Piper's nanny. Amanda likes Piper from the get go and the two form a bond. Danny had felt an attraction to Amanda the first time he'd laid eyes on her, but thought her a rich snob from another world so avoided her whenever he could. But when it became apparent the Piper was desperate for clothes, shoes and all the basics a child needed Amanda stepped in to take them shopping (doing what she does best). The shopping at Walmart chapters were hysterical! These two very opposite grown ups trying to work together for a little eight year old girl was cute, funny and full of 'aw' moments when I wasn't laughing. Before long, Danny sees just how much Amanda has to offer and that she is not what he had first judged her to be. And he wants her. But...Danny isn't very secure. Now I really loved this part, it was refreshing. Danny thought he sucked in bed and he was nearly crippled by the thought that he would fail miserably compared to the rich sophisticated men Amanda must be used to. He wants her, but he's so unsure of himself and talks himself out of it several times. Meanwhile, Amanda has nearly the same issues. She had overheard her last boyfriend talking on the phone with his girlfriend (he was cheating on Amanda and using her for her money) about how bad Amanda was at sex and making fun of her body (tiny breasts, flat butt etc). This cut Amanda deeply and made her very self conscious about her body and sex. But there is heat between Danny and Amanda and when they kiss there is no denying what they both want. Aside from their insecurities the other problem is Piper. They don't want to hurt her as she's already had a hard life full of disappointment and pain. The thought that Danny and Amanda starting a relationship then ending it might hurt Piper, so they try to stay away from each other. They can't, of course. So they decided just once to be together. That's all it takes for both of them to realise that they are already in love with each other. More doubts arise. Danny wants marriage, but doesn't believe a rich heiress would have him. And Amanda has never been told she was loved or wanted by anyone, so she finds it all hard to believe that it could be true or that it could work. She decides to stop having sex with Danny because it will hurt too much when she leaves. Danny proposes then finds out Amanda is set to inherit millions within a decade and that sends him reeling into more insecurities. This could have been annoying but its not. Not at all. It's real and like I said it was so refreshing to read that the hunky hero of the romance story is vulnerable and unsure of himself yet still sexy as hell and all man. He even blushes a few times! I loved the characters in this story. Amanda the heroine is probably one of my favorite heroines of all time because she was so real in her charming befuddlement of going from rich to poor in a heartbeat and what that might be like (Erin McCarthy was a master at depicting this). She's so full of compassion and totally unselfish putting others -even her dog before herself over and over again. There is nothing not to like about Amanda. Great book, 5 out of 5 stars.
